The Opportunity
Bring your expertise to a highly collaborative, creative, and innovative team with a market-leading technology product suite. Our engineers execute across the stack, although we are always seeking to provide opportunities that take advantage of individual interests and natural strengths. The thread that unites all engineers at Chronograph is a focus on delivering great products that drive value for our clients. We hire engineers with a broad set of technical skills, who are highly cross-functional and eager to solve a wide range of engineering challenges. For this role, you would be placed on our Infrastructure team. This team's mission is to scale the infrastructure that powers our platform and to empower developers throughout the software development lifecycle. Your day-to-day work will involve a mix of software development and operating our internal infrastructure. Executing on this mission enables the continued expansion of our engineering organization, user base, and platform features.
Our ideal candidate has a strong sense of ownership and enjoys owning projects from inception to building to testing to production. We value people who take pride in their work and show an aptitude for learning quickly whether they're familiar with our stack and tools or not. You'll be working with a nimble team of committed and talented engineers with an engineering culture centered on continuous learning, collaborative knowledge sharing, and both personal and team development.
As a member of the Infrastructure team, you will:
- Design, build and operate the cloud infrastructure that Chronograph runs on
- Maintain a first-class developer experience by building reliable internal tooling. For example, you’ll contribute to our PR environment platform, which allows developers to quickly spin up an entire application stack with its own production-scale, ZFS-based database clone
- Build and use AI-assisted tooling to automate operational work, with sound judgment on safety and cost
- Monitor application performance and help developers debug production issues
- Improve the performance, scalability, and security of our infrastructure
- Participate in an on-call rotation, respond to production incidents with infrastructure assistance, and help teams pursue observability improvements during the post-mortem process
You will be successful in this role if you have:
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, primarily working in DevOps, SRE, Platform Engineering roles or similar
- Architected infrastructure and tools for production SaaS applications, particularly in a rapidly growing startup environment. Our core services are implemented in Ruby on Rails and N
