Opportunity Overview
Handshake is looking for radiologists to support AI research through flexible, part-time contract work. This is not a traditional job. You’ll draw on your clinical training and hands-on experience in diagnostic imaging, including X-ray, CT, MRI, ultrasound, and nuclear medicine, to evaluate AI-generated content and provide feedback that helps AI reason like a practicing radiologist. The Handshake AI program runs year-round, with project opportunities opening periodically across different areas of expertise.
This is an ongoing, project-based opportunity you can take on alongside your current role.
What You’ll Do
Use your radiology expertise to create expert-level tasks that today’s top AI models can’t solve, based on real clinical workflows such as image interpretation, differential diagnosis, protocol selection, and report writing
Review and evaluate AI-generated responses for clinical accuracy, completeness, and alignment with current radiology practice
Provide clear, structured written feedback to help improve AI model performance
Work remotely and complete tasks at your own pace, with no set schedule or minimum hour requirement
Qualifications
Degree: Completed MD, DO, or equivalent medical degree
Radiology training: Completed or currently enrolled in a diagnostic radiology residency or fellowship, or board certified or board eligible in radiology
Subspecialty depth: Working knowledge in one or more areas of radiology, such as:
Neuroradiology, head and neck, or musculoskeletal imaging
Chest, cardiac, or abdominal imaging
Breast, pediatric, or emergency radiology
Interventional radiology or nuclear medicine
Emergency radiology
Additional qualifications (not required, but strengthen your application)
Experience across multiple imaging modalities or subspecialties, or with PACS, structured reporting, and clinical decision support tools
Experience at an academic medical center or teaching hospital, peer-reviewed publications, or involvement in imaging research or AI-assisted radiology tools
Required for all applicants
Must have US work authorization
Strong written communication and attention to detail
Ability to explain complex radiology concepts clearly
Ability to work independently in a remote, asynchronous environment
