About the role

Accountabilities:

    • Deliver engaging in-person and virtual workshops covering Work and Family Life program areas for service members and their families.
    • Provide one-on-one consultations tailored to individual and family needs, including deployment, relocation, transition, life skills, and employment-related support.
    • Deliver comprehensive, location-specific information and referral services through in-person, telephone, email, webinar, and video-based channels.
    • Provide preparedness guidance and support during disaster or crisis situations at locations around the world.
    • Provide in-person assistance aboard Navy ships, including support for shipboard events and Return and Reunion activities.
    • Collaborate with program stakeholders to plan, schedule, coordinate, and execute educational programs and training services.
    • Accurately document consultations, referrals, and educational activities in the designated government system of record.
    • Use collaboration platforms, video conferencing tools, project management systems, and other digital technologies to provide effective virtual services and maintain communication.
    • Perform basic troubleshooting of technology, computer, and audiovisual equipment when needed.
    • Support outreach and marketing initiatives that increase awareness and utilization of available services.
    • Participate in cross-training and provide support across additional program areas as assigned.
    • Travel internationally, potentially up to 50% of the time and for assignments lasting as long as six months, including support at remote locations and aboard Navy ships.
    • Maintain a professional, resilient, customer-focused approach when working independently, with teams, and in high-pressure or unfamiliar environments.
    • Requirements:

      • Bachelor’s degree in social science, behavioral science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience; four years of equivalent experience may also qualify.
      • Experience delivering presentations and facilitating training for both small and large groups in person and through online platforms.
      • Experience using digital technologies to deliver virtual training and communicate with stakeholders.
      • General knowledge of Fleet and Family Support Program services and experience in at least one relevant area, such as deployment and mobilization support, ombudsman training, relocation assistance, life skills education, transition assistance, or family employment readiness.
      • Strong technical proficiency with tools such as Microsoft Outlook, Teams, databases, video conferencing, collaboration platforms, and project management software.
      • Ability to set up personal computer and audiovisual equipment at different locations and perform basic technical troubleshooting.
      • Knowledge of needs assessment tools, including surveys, as well as adult education principles and training curriculum development.
      • Understanding of military life, its unique challenges, and relevant social services and community resources.
      • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to adapt messaging and presentations to different audiences.
      • Strong customer service skills, including the ability to manage challenging situations, respond to individual needs, and follow through on commitments.
      • Demonstrated time-management, organizational, self-motivation, and prioritization skills, with the ability to work effectively without constant supervision.
      • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.
      • Strong professionalism and resilience, including the ability to remain composed and productive under pressure.
      • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to prepare reports and communicate information effectively.
      • Ability to satisfy health screening requirements, including medical and dental clearances, for assignments to remote locations.
      • Ability to meet Navy shipboard physical requirements, including navigating onboard environments and carrying or transporting up to 25 pounds for extended periods when necessary.
      • U.S. citizenship, a valid driver’s license, passport, reliable transportation, and auto insurance are required.
      • Candidates must reside in Italy or Spain and must have existing Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) status or be able to independently obtain the required status.
      • Prior experience working with Fleet and Family Support Programs is preferred.
      • A quiet workspace with a stable internet connection is required when working remotely and not traveling.
