About the role
Accountabilities:
- Analyze large and complex datasets originating from utility systems such as GIS, enterprise asset management, work management, inspection, maintenance, and operational databases.
- Develop SQL queries, scripts, and repeatable workflows to extract, join, transform, validate, and reconcile data across multiple sources.
- Identify and investigate data-quality issues, including missing records, duplicate assets, inconsistent attributes, invalid relationships, and discrepancies between systems.
- Support the validation and reconciliation of asset records across platforms such as GIS, SAP, inspection systems, and document repositories.
- Create dashboards, reports, performance metrics, and other analytical products using Power BI or comparable business intelligence tools.
- Build and maintain analytical workflows within Palantir Foundry or similar cloud-based data integration and analytics platforms.
- Translate operational, engineering, business, and regulatory requirements into structured data specifications and analytical procedures.
- Automate recurring data-processing, quality-control, and reporting activities where appropriate to improve efficiency and consistency.
- Document data sources, business rules, assumptions, calculations, validation procedures, and analytical findings to ensure traceability.
- Produce clear summaries of data issues, root causes, trends, risks, and recommended corrective actions for both technical and nontechnical audiences.
- Collaborate with utility stakeholders and project teams to resolve data questions and improve the completeness, accuracy, and reliability of asset information.
- Support project tracking, quality assurance, client reporting, and preparation of project deliverables.
- Handle sensitive utility and client information in accordance with confidentiality, cybersecurity, and data-governance requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree in data analytics, computer science, information systems, engineering, geography, mathematics, statistics, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience analyzing complex datasets using SQL and relational database concepts.
- Working knowledge of data structures, joins, keys, relationships, normalization, and data-quality controls.
- Experience developing dashboards, reports, or analytical products with Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, or a comparable platform.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including advanced formulas, pivot tables, data validation, and analysis of large datasets.
- Ability to translate business and operational requirements into structured analytical methods and repeatable processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with exceptional attention to data accuracy, completeness, consistency, and traceability.
- Ability to communicate technical findings clearly and effectively to both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
- Experience creating process documentation, data dictionaries, validation rules, technical work instructions, or similar materials.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments, prioritize effectively, and deliver high-quality work in a deadline-driven consulting environment.
- Preferred experience working with electric, gas, or water utility data and infrastructure.
- Familiarity with utility assets such as poles, transformers, conductors, underground structures, streetlights, switches, protective devices, pipelines, meters, or related infrastructure.
- Experience reconciling information across GIS, SAP, enterprise asset management, inspection, maintenance, or work management systems is advantageous.
- Experience with Palantir Foundry, including datasets, pipelines, transformations, ontology objects, dashboards, or analytical applications, is preferred.
- Familiarity with Esri ArcGIS, spatial data, geodatabases, or GIS-based asset analysis is a plus.
- Experience with Python, R, Power Query, DAX, or other data-processing and automation technologies is desirable.
- Knowledge of data governance, metadata management, data lineage, master data management, or utility asset registries is beneficial.
- Experience supporting regulatory, compliance, audit, asset-validation, infrastructure-modernization, or similar initiatives is preferred.
- Familiarity with electric utility distribution or transmission operations and/or consulting experience with utility stakeholders is advantageous.
- Must be currently authorized to work full-time in the United States; employment visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
- Annual salary range of $90,000–$125,000, with final compensation based on geographic location, experience, qualifications, and market conditions.
