About the role
Accountabilities:
- Own and deliver portfolio sales objectives across the Upper Midwest territory, with a focus on South Dakota, Iowa, and Missouri.
- Develop and execute retail business plans, sales forecasts, territory strategies, and initiatives designed to achieve revenue objectives and identify new market opportunities.
- Build and maintain strong, productive relationships with agricultural retailers, wholesale and distribution accounts, key growers, and centers of influence throughout the territory.
- Expand market presence by developing new accounts, strengthening existing customer relationships, and increasing adoption of innovative agricultural crop protection products.
- Work with customers to understand their business needs and develop solutions that help them achieve their revenue and growth objectives.
- Identify and pursue opportunities to launch new products, technologies, crop protection programs, and differentiated solutions within priority crops including corn, potatoes, alfalfa, and other regional crops.
- Apply agricultural market knowledge, agronomic expertise, creativity, and business insight to develop innovative approaches to territory growth.
- Maintain accurate and timely CRM information, ensuring customer activity and market intelligence are captured and shared effectively across the organization.
- Serve as a key source of customer and market insight, providing the broader organization with feedback on customer needs, competitive activity, market conditions, and growth opportunities.
- Collaborate closely with sales, marketing, product management, communications, and product development teams to support commercial strategy and ensure strong customer alignment.
- Support the broader business and team culture through cross-functional collaboration and a proactive, ownership-oriented approach.
- Represent the product portfolio confidently in a highly competitive agricultural marketplace and consistently pursue opportunities to increase sales and market share.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in agriculture, agronomy, business, or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of field sales experience within the agriculture industry.
- Strong understanding of the agricultural marketplace across South Dakota, Iowa, Missouri, and the broader Upper Midwest region.
- Strong agronomic knowledge, including familiarity with crop protection products and their practical application.
- Experience working directly with agricultural retailers, key growers, distributors, and other agricultural stakeholders.
- Experience developing and managing customer relationships and influencing purchasing decisions across multiple levels of agricultural accounts.
- Experience launching new agricultural products, technologies, or solutions into the marketplace.
- Experience in liquid fertilizer or biological agricultural products is considered an advantage.
- Strong knowledge of the crops grown throughout the Upper Midwest and the ability to apply agronomic expertise to differentiated product selling.
- Demonstrated ability to identify commercial opportunities, build trust with customers, and generate sales of innovative agricultural products.
- Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, relationship-building, and interpersonal skills.
- Collaborative approach and ability to work effectively in small, cross-functional teams.
- Self-motivated, entrepreneurial, competitive, and results-oriented, with the drive to build a growing territory and represent innovative products.
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities effectively, and take ownership of business outcomes.
- Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
- Valid passport and ability to travel throughout the United States and Canada as required.
- Ideal candidates should reside within the assigned territory, preferably in South Dakota, Iowa, or Missouri.
