Role Overview

The Technical Sales Specialist (TSS) will represent the Applied Biosystems, Invitrogen, and Thermo Scientific Molecular Biology and Cloning portfolios, supporting the research of academic, government, biotech, and pharmaceutical customers. Operating within the Biosciences Division, you will be responsible for sales across a focused portfolio of products in your assigned territory, applying sales experience, molecular biology and cloning knowledge, product expertise, and territory leadership skills to grow sales and profitability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Put customers first by responding efficiently to requests, exploring business goals, and serving as a technical resource
  • Establish technical credibility and develop strong relationships with accounts and colleagues
  • Apply technical and business knowledge to present compelling value propositions to customers
  • Prospect for new business, qualify sales leads, and generate a strong opportunity funnel
  • Serve established accounts by addressing technical inquiries and ensuring continuity of product supply
  • Acquire and communicate quarterly/annual reagent forecasts with internal teams
  • Nurture existing customer relationships to expand business within accounts and protect against competition
  • Understand competitor strengths and vulnerabilities, contributing to team strategies
  • Develop and update territory business plans according to market changes
  • Provide revenue forecasts and reporting on weekly, monthly, and quarterly bases
  • Collaborate with other Biosciences Division commercial team members to share territory intelligence
  • Capture and disseminate market feedback and competitive intelligence
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations and account-specific product demonstrations

Work Environment

  • First shift (days) schedule
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs. without assistance required
  • Interact with customers across multiple states through face-to-face meetings, teleconferences, and email communications
