About the role
Accountabilities:
- Lead, manage, coach, and develop a team of 6–8 people, overseeing onboarding, performance management, feedback, career development, and team growth.
- Own a portfolio valued at approximately $800K–$1M+, ensuring strong client retention, satisfaction, strategic outcomes, and sustainable account growth.
- Serve as the executive-level SEO and GEO voice for assigned clients, developing relationships with CMOs and C-suite stakeholders and communicating strategic value in terms of revenue, pipeline, lifetime value, and long-term ROI.
- Build trusted client partnerships grounded in empathy, transparency, accountability, and a strong understanding of business objectives.
- Identify and pursue appropriate upsell, cross-sell, and expansion opportunities, collaborating with Paid Media, Creative, Client Engagement, and other teams to develop integrated growth recommendations.
- Set strategic direction for SEO and GEO across the portfolio, ensuring account teams are focused on the right priorities rather than relying on hands-on execution by the team lead.
- Drive the evolution of organic search offerings by pressure-testing strategies, evaluating emerging AI-search practices, and converting successful experiments into repeatable team methodologies.
- Champion practical AI adoption by increasing team fluency, piloting new tools and workflows, and sharing lessons and results across the broader organization.
- Use data to evaluate SEO and GEO effectiveness across rankings, traffic, conversions, revenue, and other relevant business metrics.
- Mentor direct reports and junior team members, providing strategic guidance, constructive feedback, and opportunities for professional growth.
- Participate in recruiting activities, including sourcing, interviewing, and selecting future team members.
- Manage complex client and team situations with sound judgment, strong conflict-resolution skills, and a calm, solutions-oriented approach.
- Establish strong operating rhythms across the team, balancing multiple accounts, projects, stakeholders, and competing priorities.
- Contribute thought leadership by sharing insights, industry trends, experiments, and emerging practices with clients and the broader digital marketing community.
- Support the development of the future SEO organization by continuously improving processes, strategic approaches, and capabilities.
- Proven people-management experience leading a team of approximately 6–8 professionals, including hiring, coaching, performance management, difficult feedback, and career development.
- Hands-on agency experience across SEO and GEO, with exposure to areas such as content strategy, enterprise SEO, PR, paid media, analytics, or integrated digital marketing.
- Deep practical experience with GEO, including AI Overviews, LLM-powered discovery, generative search interfaces, and strategies for improving visibility across emerging search experiences.
- Demonstrated ability to test, implement, evaluate, and teach SEO and GEO strategies while using data to connect marketing activity to measurable outcomes.
- Genuine enthusiasm for AI as a practical working tool, with experience using AI to improve individual or team workflows and a willingness to continually experiment with emerging technologies.
- Strong executive-level client management skills, with the ability to confidently engage C-suite stakeholders and translate complex digital marketing concepts into clear business recommendations.
- Experience navigating client organizations and building relationships with senior stakeholders, particularly CMOs and other executives.
- Strong commercial instincts and a consistent record of identifying account-growth opportunities and increasing revenue.
- Excellent conflict-resolution and communication skills, with the ability to navigate high-pressure client and team situations constructively.
- Strong strategic thinking and business judgment, balancing channel expertise with broader commercial and organizational objectives.
- Exceptional organization and time-management skills, with the ability to context-switch effectively across multiple accounts, projects, and priorities.
- Adaptability and a commitment to continuous learning, experimentation, change management, and innovation.
- Comfortable leading through ambiguity, challenging assumptions, and providing candid feedback while maintaining strong relationships.
- Annual salary range of $95,000–$115,000, with final compensation determined by skills and experience.
- Compensation reviewed at least annually.
- Remote-first work environment within the United States.
- Option to work from a headquarters office in Philadelphia for candidates who prefer an office environment.
- Comprehensive employee benefits and additional benefit offerings.
- Inclusive and collaborative culture focused on learning, growth, transparency, and continuous improvement.
- Equal opportunity workplace committed to welcoming diverse backgrounds, identities, abilities, and experiences.
