Accountabilities:
- Own the architecture and long-term technical direction of the notification platform, including delivery guarantees, routing logic, enrichment pipelines, escalation policies, and per-tenant configuration.
- Define and evolve the integration architecture for outbound channels including PagerDuty, Slack, email, SMS, SOAR platforms, Jira, ServiceNow, ITSM systems, AI triage workflows, and webhooks.
- Design and improve workflow orchestration for complex delivery scenarios such as alert grouping, silencing, custom scheduling, business-hours windows, failure recovery, and guaranteed delivery.
- Own long-running channel state, including alert volumes, processing status, pending queues, and reliable message de-queuing and clearing.
- Drive the subscriber configuration model, enabling users to define which alerts they receive, through which channels, and on whose behalf.
- Establish engineering standards for integrations and platform development to keep the growing channel ecosystem reliable, scalable, and maintainable.
- Identify and resolve cross-team dependencies, particularly those involving upstream alert classification, ingestion, enrichment, and security signal contracts.
- Mentor engineers working within and adjacent to the notification domain while raising the bar for reliability, scalability, and delivery correctness.
- Take on additional technical initiatives and projects as needed to support team and organizational success.
- Proven experience designing, building, and operating high-reliability notification, messaging, or alerting systems at production scale.
- Strong integration engineering experience across communication and operational channels such as PagerDuty, Slack, email, SMS, ticketing platforms, SOAR systems, and webhooks.
- Hands-on production experience with Temporal or a comparable workflow orchestration platform, including long-running workflows, state management, and failure recovery.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, particularly delivery guarantees, idempotency, fault tolerance, and managing state across asynchronous processes.
- Demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguous problem spaces and make durable architectural decisions with incomplete requirements.
- Track record of influencing technical direction across teams and driving alignment around shared contracts, APIs, and platform capabilities.
- Experience with multi-tenant SaaS architectures and tenant-specific configuration is a plus.
- Familiarity with AI-powered alert triage or routing alerts into LLM-based reasoning workflows is a plus.
- Background in security operations or experience working with SOAR platforms is advantageous.
- Hands-on experience with Kafka-based event pipelines upstream of notification or message dispatch is a plus.
- Strong communication, mentorship, collaboration, and technical leadership skills are essential for success in a Staff-level role.
- 100% remote position.
- Opportunity to grow within a high-growth technology environment.
- A culture that encourages innovation, bold ideas, and strategic thinking.
- The opportunity to make a tangible impact on a critical platform and its customers.
- Flexible time off.
- Team events and opportunities to connect in engaging settings.
- Employee referral bonuses.
- Opportunity to work on complex, large-scale distributed systems and shape the technical direction of a core platform capability.
