About the role
Accountabilities
- Lead the month-end and year-end financial close processes, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely delivery of financial information.
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, financial statements, and supporting documentation.
- Ensure compliance with Mexican NIF and support IFRS and CNBV regulatory reporting requirements.
- Coordinate internal and external audits, including preparation of audit schedules, documentation, and supporting evidence.
- Lead the accounting integration of a newly acquired SOFIPO, ensuring appropriate processes, controls, and reporting structures are established.
- Standardize accounting policies, procedures, and charts of accounts across the organization.
- Strengthen internal controls, identify accounting risks, and implement opportunities for process improvement and automation.
- Partner with Treasury, Tax, FP&A, Operations, Product, and other teams on strategic and finance-related initiatives.
- Serve as the accounting subject matter expert, providing guidance on complex accounting matters and mentoring junior team members.
- Support broader finance transformation, integration, and process optimization initiatives as the organization continues to scale.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting; CPA certification or equivalent professional qualification is preferred.
- 6–10 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within banking, fintech, SOFIPO, IFPE, or another regulated financial institution.
- Strong knowledge of Mexican NIF, with practical understanding of IFRS and CNBV regulatory reporting requirements.
- Proven experience leading financial close processes, financial reporting, audits, and internal control initiatives.
- Advanced Excel skills and hands-on experience with ERP platforms such as NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Dynamics, or similar systems.
- Experience supporting M&A, post-merger integration, finance transformation, or accounting integration projects is highly desirable.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to take ownership of complex accounting matters.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build strong relationships across functions and levels of seniority.
- Customer-centric mindset and an understanding of how high-quality financial information supports better business decisions.
- Hands-on, results-oriented approach and comfort operating in fast-paced, high-growth environments.
- High level of accountability, professional judgment, attention to detail, and commitment to quality.
