About the role

Overview

Instacart’s Strategic Finance team partners closely with leaders across the company to guide decision-making, capital allocation, and long-term strategy. We’re problem solvers and thought partners who roll up our sleeves to help the business grow responsibly and sustainably.

We are seeking a Senior Strategic Finance Manager to own the finance strategy for Instacart’s growth partnerships portfolio and emerging Consumer Revenue scope. In this highly visible role, you will steer a ~$100M per year investment portfolio that directly drives topline GTV, Instacart+ membership growth, and user acquisition, while building the frameworks that help us measure impact and optimize ROI.

You’ll work hand-in-hand with our Partnerships organization (including close collaboration with the Sr. Director of Partnerships and her team), as well as Product and Data Science. The role partners with internal stakeholders only and sits within a nimble immediate team of 5 (and a broader Strategic Finance org of ~25). Instacart is a Flex First company. Candidates based in the San Francisco Bay Area are encouraged to collaborate in person with team members located there, though remote candidates within the U.S. will also be considered.

  • Own end-to-end finance support for our growth partnerships portfolio (~$100M/year), creating ROI guardrails and performance frameworks tied to GTV, Instacart+ membership growth, and user acquisition.
  • Build and maintain driver-based forecasting and scenario models for Consumer Revenue and partner investments; translate insights into clear recommendations for senior leadership.
  • Lead annual and quarterly planning, monthly forecast and close routines, and KPI instrumentation in partnership with Partnerships, Product, Data Science, and Accounting.
  • Evaluate and structure new partnership opportunities, including diligence, unit economics, incrementality, and payback analysis; prepare executive-ready materials to inform decisions.
  • Design and operationalize robust measurement with Data Science (e.g., attribution, experimentation, incrementality) to continuously optimize spend and outcomes.
  • Establish an operating cadence and OKRs for your portfolio, ensuring alignment with company goals and driving accountability.
