About the role
Accountabilities
- Design comprehensive test coverage and scenarios ahead of UAT, ensuring solutions address customer needs rather than only individual feature specifications.
- Collaborate with developers and product managers throughout the SDLC to clarify requirements, identify gaps early, and establish clear acceptance criteria.
- Translate business, product, design, and data requirements from documents such as URDs, PRDs, and HLDs into structured test plans.
- Recommend which testing areas should be automated and explain the rationale, partnering closely with automation developers to shape effective coverage.
- Review automation results, investigate failures, identify coverage gaps, and communicate testing priorities to relevant stakeholders.
- Coordinate testing priorities with Delivery leadership and project stakeholders based on client requirements, business impact, and risk.
- Own tactical bug triage during pre-UAT and UAT, coordinating tickets, tracking resolutions, and serving as a key point of contact for client-reported issues.
- Investigate defects across multiple systems, teams, and components to identify root causes and ensure issues are properly understood and resolved.
- Execute and review functional and end-to-end tests using appropriate test management and technical tools.
- Provide clear reporting on testing progress, automation suitability, outstanding risks, and coverage gaps.
- Contribute to broader test strategy, quality processes, documentation, and workflow improvements rather than focusing solely on test execution.
- Use AI tools to improve productivity, automate repetitive work, and strengthen day-to-day QA activities.
- 5+ years of QA experience in a senior quality role, ideally testing SaaS or cloud-based applications within a modern software development environment.
- Strong end-to-end and functional testing experience, with the ability to assess products from the customer's perspective as well as against documented requirements.
- Deep understanding of the software development lifecycle and the role of Quality Engineering within an Agile development process.
- Proven ability to investigate complex, cross-module issues and trace problems across multiple systems or teams to determine root causes.
- Experience coordinating testing activities during high-visibility periods such as pre-UAT and UAT, including ticket management, status reporting, prioritization, and resolution tracking.
- Mandatory experience with API testing using Postman; the role is technical but does not require advanced hands-on coding.
- Comfortable reviewing automation execution results and investigating failures, including CI/CD pipeline runs such as GitHub Actions, to understand coverage and identify gaps.
- Familiarity with tools and technologies such as Playwright, Postman, Datadog, Docker, ArgoCD, GitHub, TypeScript, and MySQL is beneficial.
- Strong Agile mindset and comfort working within rapid release cycles and changing priorities.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess risks and make sound coverage decisions.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to collaborate across Product, Engineering, Delivery, and client teams.
- Comfortable working with PRDs and other product documentation and understanding their importance in testing, sign-off, and approval.
- Proactive, collaborative, and comfortable working with ambiguity while creating clarity and moving initiatives forward.
- Willingness to incorporate AI tools into daily work and explore practical ways to improve QA efficiency.
- Some coding experience or interest in developing coding skills is an advantage and may support progression toward an automation-focused career path.
- Remote-first position open to candidates anywhere in Canada, with a strong preference for those able to work Eastern Time hours.
- Comprehensive extended health, dental, and vision coverage, including 100% drug coverage.
- $1,500 annual Health & Wellness Spending Account for eligible wellness and healthcare expenses.
- Four weeks of vacation plus eight personal floater days.
- Group RRSP/DPSP retirement savings plan with competitive employer-matching contributions.
- Access to telemedicine services through Dialogue and coverage for licensed practitioner services.
- Maternity and parental leave top-up programs to support growing families.
- Opportunity to develop along an automation engineering or QA coordination and test leadership career path.
- Professional growth opportunities within a fast-paced SaaS and technology environment.
- Culture focused on collaboration, innovation, continuous improvement, and meaningful customer impact.
- Strong emphasis on responsible AI adoption, with support for using AI to automate repetitive work and improve productivity.
- Inclusive workplace committed to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
