About the role
An overview of this role
As a Senior Professional Services Engineer, you'll help customers install, migrate to, configure, and adopt GitLab through technical delivery, training, and advisory services. Your work may range from single-node Linux package installations to large reference architectures using infrastructure as code and configuration as code, as well as migrations from multiple version control systems to GitLab software as a service or self-managed environments. You'll use a consultative approach, working with customers and GitLab Product and Engineering teams to identify the best path to customer success and improve GitLab features and processes.
What you'll do
- Use a consultative approach to assess each customer's goals and identify ways to achieve their vision more effectively and efficiently.
- Deliver statements of work with guidance from Technical Architects, including installing and configuring GitLab solutions in customer environments.
- Develop and implement migration plans for customer version control systems and data.
- Provide technical training remotely or on-site, and create implementation, maintenance, and customer-specific guidance.
- Create and maintain artifacts, templates, documentation, and scripts for service delivery, training, implementation, and customer workflows.
- Document and communicate customer opportunities, risks, and status updates to project and account teams.
- Collaborate with GitLab Product and Engineering teams to support customer success and contribute improvements to GitLab features and processes.
- Support Engagement Managers with quoting and scoping statements of work, and document improvements to Professional Services engagement processes.
What you'll bring
- Professional experience with one or more infrastructure as code or configuration as code technologies, such as Terraform, Ansible, Packer, Puppet, or Chef.
- Professional experience with one or more cloud providers, such as Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform, or Microsoft Azure.
- Experience using, deploying, or configuring GitLab.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English sufficient for success in a remote and largely asynchronous work environment.
- Effective communication skills.
