About the role
Accountabilities:
- Lead the planning, design, implementation, and scaling of linguistic quality programs in collaboration with quality leadership and cross-functional teams.
- Develop, refine, and operationalize linguistic quality frameworks, policies, methodologies, and governance standards.
- Act as a senior subject-matter expert on linguistic quality, LQA methodologies, localization best practices, and language asset management.
- Define account audit frameworks and quality assessment approaches, while overseeing and validating audits performed by quality team members.
- Analyze audit results, quality metrics, and performance data to identify systemic risks, cross-client trends, and opportunities for improvement.
- Lead strategic quality improvement initiatives and translate insights into actionable recommendations and measurable outcomes.
- Serve as an escalation point for complex or high-impact linguistic quality issues and support the review of corrective and preventive action plans.
- Participate in client-facing quality discussions, audits, business reviews, RFPs, test translations, solution design, and meetings requiring advanced linguistic expertise.
- Develop and maintain quality metrics, reporting frameworks, and dashboards to support data-driven decision-making.
- Research, evaluate, and help implement new linguistic QA technologies, automation solutions, and AI-powered tools.
- Mentor, coach, and support Localization Quality Managers and Associates, contributing to onboarding, training, performance reviews, and hiring decisions.
- Establish best practices for terminology management, translation memories, style guides, query handling, and other linguistic assets.
- Define account- and program-level translation memory governance strategies in collaboration with technology teams.
- Oversee third-party reviews, LQA exchanges, external benchmarking, and related quality initiatives, using findings to inform vendor management and quality policies.
- Review and improve memoQ project configurations, templates, workflows, and quality-related operational processes.
- Ensure localization operations consistently align with established quality standards, governance models, and client-specific requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Translation, Linguistics, or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
- At least 5 years of experience in the localization industry, including substantial experience in linguistic quality assurance and CAT tools.
- At least 3 years of leadership or management experience in quality-focused roles.
- Proven experience leading cross-functional quality initiatives and managing large-scale or complex localization programs.
- Advanced knowledge of LQA tools, methodologies, linguistic evaluation frameworks, and language asset management.
- Experience supporting enterprise-level clients and delivering quality solutions for complex localization requirements.
- Strong understanding of translation memory, terminology, style guide, and language asset governance.
- Demonstrated ability to drive innovation through process improvements, automation, AI, and technology-enabled workflows.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret quality data and translate findings into strategic actions.
- Excellent coaching, mentoring, stakeholder management, and team leadership capabilities.
- Strong client-facing communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex quality topics clearly.
- Ability to combine strategic thinking with hands-on execution and meticulous attention to detail.
- Tech-savvy approach, with proficiency in MS Office and Adobe software and familiarity with localization technology.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with a proactive, structured, and creative approach to complex challenges.
- Fluency in English; additional language proficiency is an advantage.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across functions, cultures, and geographically distributed teams.
- Fully remote position based in Brazil.
