Senior iOS Engineer, Member Experience
About the role
Responsibilities
Own the iOS subscription and payments stack end to end from product configuration, purchase and restore flows, entitlement state, offers, to the paywall surfaces members see.
Serve as the client-side authority on StoreKit2: architect the integration, set the patterns, and handle the lifecycle edge cases. Including interrupted and deferred purchases, upgrades, downgrades, crossgrades, refunds, revocations, billing retry, and price increase consent.
Partner closely with the server team on entitlement correctness, working across the client/server boundary on signed transaction verification, reconciliation, and idempotency so that what the app shows and what the backend believes never diverge.
Work with product, design, and data on pricing, offers, and paywall experimentation. Scoping and shipping revenue-affecting work from concept through launch and measurement.
Contribute broadly to a large, long-lived iOS codebase: architecture and system design, performance, testing practices, and deliberate management of tech debt.
Act as the client-side escalation point for member payment issues, with the monitoring and release discipline to catch problems before members do.
Raise the engineering bar through code review, technical mentorship, and clear written specs.
Requirements
7+ years of professional iOS development experience, with strong proficiency in Swift, UIKit, MVVM, and reactive programming.
Expert-level, hands-on Apple StoreKit2 experience: you have built and operated StoreKit2 integrations end to end at least twice in production, owning product configuration, purchase and restore flows, Transaction.updates, current entitlements and subscription status, introductory / promotional / win-back offers, offer codes, and sandbox-through-production testing.
Direct, native StoreKit2 integration experience and depth that goes beyond consuming a third-party abstraction layer. You can reason about the framework itself.
Production Stripe Payments/Subscriptions experience for a B2C product (secondary to Apple, but required).
Experience collaborating with a server team on subscription correctness including App Store Server Notifications V2, signed transaction verification, reconciliation, and idempotent handling of duplicate events.
A track record of building and shipping consumer mobile applications to scaled audiences, with strong judgment on architecture, performance optimization, and user experience.
Strong consumer product sense and the ability to partner effectively with product, design, and data on revenue-affecting work.
Proven ability to lead projects from concept through launch, balancing speed and quality, and to own what you ship after it ships.
An AI-forward mindset, with curiosity about applying emerging technologies to improve developer and product experiences.
Nice to Have
Experience migrating a production app from StoreKit1 to StoreKit2.
Experience running a subscription product across two payment processors simultaneously, with a single active entitlement per member.
Familiarity with SwiftUI alongside UIKit, and with modularizing a large iOS codebase.
Experience with paywall and pricing experimentation frameworks, and with subscription analytics.
