About the role
Accountabilities
- Provide programming leadership, technical expertise, and ongoing support for electronic health record and other clinical application systems.
- Serve as a health informatics resource for clinical departments, helping identify technical solutions and improvements to application functionality.
- Lead medium-sized projects and technology initiatives through planning, development, implementation, and operational phases.
- Act as a technical subject matter expert in collaboration with project managers, HIT analysts, IT teams, and clinical stakeholders.
- Provide technical leadership, guidance, and support to HIT analysts working on application development and maintenance.
- Analyze application issues and determine appropriate system changes, modifications, and technical solutions to meet clinical and operational needs.
- Manage application and technology initiatives while ensuring alignment with organizational IT priorities and strategic objectives.
- Monitor project progress, communicate issues and risks, and provide regular updates and project details to leadership.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including system diagrams, technical schemas, project documentation, and application-related materials.
- Collaborate with senior technology leadership to communicate software changes, system updates, technical considerations, and potential impacts.
- Support continuous improvement of clinical applications by staying current with system capabilities, technology developments, and healthcare informatics practices.
- Bachelor’s degree in Health Informatics or a related field with 5–7 years of relevant experience, including healthcare IT, systems management, and programming experience; alternatively, a master’s degree with 3–5 years of relevant experience.
- Strong experience working with healthcare information technology, clinical applications, and systems supporting patient care.
- Demonstrated programming and technical problem-solving capabilities within complex application environments.
- Experience providing technical leadership and supporting application development, maintenance, implementation, and operational activities.
- Ability to lead projects or technology initiatives and collaborate effectively with project managers, analysts, clinical professionals, and IT stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of health informatics principles and the ability to translate clinical and business requirements into effective technical solutions.
- Excellent communication, organization, analytical, and project management skills.
- Ability to work independently while providing effective technical leadership and maintaining strong cross-functional relationships.
- Ability to create and maintain clear technical documentation, system diagrams, schemas, and project materials.
- Certified Professional in Health Information & Management or an equivalent credential is required within 365 days of employment.
- At least one application-specific Epic certification relevant to the department is required within 120 days of hire, including completion of applicable Epic certification training when necessary.
- Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CPHIMS) is preferred.
- Experience with MyChart, MyChart Bedside, Welcome, and Hello World is preferred.
- Must be able to work effectively in a remote environment and attend onsite meetings when required.
- Successful candidates must meet applicable employment and workplace health requirements, including required immunizations or approved exemptions.
- Starting pay of $41.57 per hour, with final compensation determined by education and experience.
