About the role
Accountabilities:
- Own the Credit Card P&L, including monthly forecast-versus-actual reporting, variance analysis, financial performance tracking, and inputs to executive and board-level materials.
- Serve as the primary finance partner to Credit Card leadership, participating in business unit discussions and translating operational decisions into financial implications.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive Credit Card unit economics models covering CAC, LTV, contribution margin, portfolio yield, delinquency, loss curves, and other key performance drivers.
- Use unit economics and financial analysis to evaluate product, pricing, acquisition, credit line, and portfolio strategy initiatives.
- Lead Credit Card inputs into annual planning cycles and quarterly reforecasts, ensuring assumptions are well supported and resource tradeoffs are clearly understood.
- Partner with Product, Credit, Risk, Data Science, and Marketing teams to build rigorous business cases for new initiatives and strategic investments.
- Translate portfolio and credit performance indicators, including delinquency, roll rates, approval decisions, pricing strategies, and loss performance, into financial insights for leadership.
- Independently identify emerging financial risks, growth opportunities, and performance trends and proactively present recommendations to senior stakeholders.
- Challenge assumptions constructively and provide data-driven alternatives that improve business decisions.
- Identify and implement AI-enabled finance workflows using tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot, and internal automation platforms to accelerate reporting, variance analysis, modeling, and other recurring processes.
- Help establish responsible and effective AI-assisted analysis practices that can scale across the broader strategic finance function.
- Build and maintain dashboards and automated reporting infrastructure that makes Credit Card performance metrics accessible, self-service, and decision-ready.
- Communicate financial performance, strategic recommendations, risks, and opportunities clearly to business unit leaders, executives, and potentially board-level audiences.
- Operate with substantial autonomy, taking ownership of ambiguous problems and shaping strategic direction rather than simply executing predefined plans.
- 6+ years of experience in strategic finance, FP&A, business operations, management consulting, investment banking, or a closely related field.
- Experience in lending, credit cards, consumer finance, or related financial services is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience owning a P&L or the financial narrative of a business unit at a senior level, including direct engagement with business unit and executive leadership.
- Strong financial modeling and unit economics capabilities, ideally including experience with lending or credit economics such as loss rates, portfolio yield, CAC, and LTV.
- Comfortable using SQL for analysis and working with data to investigate business performance and develop actionable insights.
- Experience with Databricks and/or Aleph is a plus.
- Demonstrated hands-on use of AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, or Copilot to create meaningful efficiencies in financial analysis, reporting, modeling, or other finance workflows.
- Ability to build trust and influence with non-finance leaders across Product, Credit, Risk, Marketing, and other functions.
- Confidence challenging flawed assumptions and presenting practical, data-backed alternatives.
- Strong strategic thinking and the ability to independently structure ambiguous or complex business problems with minimal oversight.
- Hands-on, resourceful approach with a willingness to work in the details despite operating at a senior level.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including comfort presenting to senior executives and board-level stakeholders.
- Strong ownership mindset, sound judgment, and the ability to balance strategic priorities with rigorous financial analysis.
- An MBA or other advanced degree is preferred.
- Experience working across international markets or global, multi-currency businesses is a plus.
- Candidates who do not meet every listed qualification but demonstrate strong potential, ambition, and relevant transferable experience are encouraged to apply.
- Competitive compensation package with generous equity participation.
- Virtual-first work environment supporting collaboration across 14 countries and 12 time zones.
- Work-from-home office reimbursement to support an effective remote workspace.
- Flexible health plan options across different premium levels, with substantial employer subsidies.
- Direct exposure to senior and executive leadership, providing meaningful visibility and influence.
- Paid global company gatherings held twice each year, with previous team events in destinations such as Vail, San Diego, and Mexico City.
- Growth opportunities based on contribution and impact rather than rigid promotion timelines.
- Opportunity to work on innovative financial products and help shape a modern approach to consumer credit.
- Collaborative, inclusive culture that values excellence, ownership, curiosity, mutual respect, and meaningful impact.
- Opportunity to use emerging AI and automation technologies to transform finance processes and increase strategic capacity.
