About the role
Accountabilities:
- Perform on-site field service activities within certified areas, including technical troubleshooting, diagnostics, maintenance, repairs, installations, commissioning, upgrades, retrofits, replacements, and end-of-life services.
- Work directly with customers to identify operational challenges, eliminate pain points, and recommend opportunities to improve equipment performance and reliability.
- Execute service activities in accordance with customer requirements, established work instructions, quality standards, and safety procedures.
- Prepare material lists for service assignments and ensure all required parts, materials, and equipment are available and meet quality requirements.
- Proactively identify potential equipment failures and recommend corrective actions to prevent downtime and improve system reliability.
- Support the certification and development of Associate Field Service Technicians and Field Service Technicians by providing coaching, technical guidance, and hands-on support.
- Supervise complex site activities and act as a technical trainer for colleagues and customers when required.
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships by communicating service timelines, expectations, findings, and recommendations clearly and professionally.
- Identify potential sales opportunities arising from customer needs and communicate relevant opportunities internally.
- Identify product, service, and quality improvement opportunities and provide recommendations to management.
- Prepare technical test plans, service documentation, and detailed reports outlining test results and findings.
- Maintain a strong focus on workplace and environmental safety, promptly reporting unsafe practices, incidents, and potential hazards.
- Manage administrative responsibilities effectively, meeting deadlines and maintaining a strong sense of urgency and ownership through completion of each assignment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology with 4+ years of experience servicing critical power equipment, or an Associate degree in Electrical Technology with 6+ years of relevant experience, or a High School Diploma/GED with 8+ years of equivalent work and/or military experience servicing critical power equipment.
- Strong hands-on experience with critical power equipment, electrical systems, field service, troubleshooting, maintenance, and commissioning.
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with customers, technicians, management, and stakeholders at varying organizational levels.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively while also working independently in customer-facing field environments.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and moderate project management capabilities using tools such as MS Project or Excel.
- Advanced ability to develop test plans and produce clear, accurate technical reports documenting test results.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage administrative responsibilities and meet deadlines while handling multiple priorities.
- Customer-focused mindset with strong relationship-building, problem-solving, and communication abilities.
- Willingness to take ownership of assignments and work with a strong sense of urgency until the job is successfully completed.
- Ability to coach and support other technicians and contribute to team development.
- Must already have US work authorization that permits employment in the United States.
- Must be located in Illinois and able to work remotely while traveling to customer sites as required.
- Annual base salary range of $68,600–$109,760, with final compensation based on qualifications, experience, and other relevant factors.
- Remote work arrangement for candidates located in Illinois, with customer-site travel as required.
