Role Overview

This is a senior individual contributor role with full ownership. The mission is to make MAIA's platform reliable, secure, auditable, and developer-friendly, at a stage where every decision has lasting impact. This is a step up role for someone who has spent the last few years owning infrastructure inside a small engineering team and is now ready to be the person who runs the entire platform area independently.

Philosophy

MAIA makes a clear distinction between where complexity is wanted and where simplicity is preferred. On the product side, the company operates at the AI frontier with sophisticated RAG pipelines, multiple LLM providers, and continuous experimentation. On the platform side, the company deliberately keeps things simple: Docker Compose on Hetzner instead of Kubernetes on managed cloud, Postgres for almost everything before reaching for another data store. Simple does not mean lax—the company holds itself to a high bar on security and reliability, working towards ISO 27001 certification.

Key Responsibilities

• Take full ownership of infrastructure across Hetzner, AWS, GCP, and Azure for selected services
• Own CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and deployment workflows, continuously improving rollout strategies, versioning, and rollback procedures
• Build, improve, and maintain the observability stack including Grafana, Loki, Sentry, and PostHog for metrics, logs, traces, and alerting
• Operate and improve the self-hosted Postgres setup including backup, restore, performance, and availability
• Implement and maintain security fundamentals: IAM, secrets management, TLS, vulnerability scanning, and patch management
