About the Role
Ladder is seeking a talented Senior Accountant - Financial Reporting to join our Finance team. This role reports to the Senior Director of Accounting Policy, Reporting and Functional Enablement and works closely with other team members within Finance, external parties and around the company. The Finance team is responsible for all aspects of the monthly close process, financial and management reporting, accounting policy and contract review, managing audits, taxes and supporting the business.
The ideal candidate is well-rounded and has the ability to interact with all levels of management and external auditors, and operate effectively in a rapidly scaling, dynamic environment. We are looking for someone who is organized, self-motivated, has excellent problem-solving and writing skills, and enjoys working with people in a challenging and fast-paced environment. In this role, you will have the opportunity to drive innovation within the reporting function and help build out the accounting function.
Please note: This is a remote role based in one of the 23 states Ladder is currently hiring in - AZ, CA, CO, CT, FL, GA, IA, KS, MA, MD, MN, NC, NH, NJ, NV, NY, OH, OR, PA, TX, VA, WA, WI with the exception of the following cities: SF Bay Area, New York City, and Seattle. Ladder is not currently sponsoring or transferring OPT or H1-B visas.
What You'll Do
- Perform monthly reporting and analysis on US GAAP results and related reporting and disclosures including analysis of flux of business results related accounts for month-end close reporting and budget to actual.
- Prepare annual financial statements with detailed workpapers.
- Assist with new accounting standards and transaction implementation and agreements: perform detailed research and draft position and implementation memos.
- Perform contract reviews and coordinate with team for implementation needed.
- Maintain accounting compliance by understanding current and proposed US GAAP regulations and recommending new procedures especially those related to insurance industry standards and revenue recognition.
- Work with external consultants and accounting firms on financial and tax audits including managing and coordinating audit deliverables.
- Identify operational inefficiencies and areas for improvement, formulate and take action on recommendations in order to scale effectively.
- Take part in various ad hoc projects and analyses and Finance projects and initiatives as required.
- Help to manage G/L and other financial systems.
- Ability to travel if needed.
Experience Required
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent.
- Relevant industry experience or public accounting, CPA required.
- 3+ years of financial reporting, public accounting, or relevant experience.
