RF Design Engineer

Accountabilities:

• • Design in-building wireless systems for DAS deployments, including both passive and active architectures, as well as small cell solutions designed to meet coverage and capacity requirements.
  • Develop RF designs that support LTE and 5G performance across complex indoor environments and align with project and carrier requirements.
  • Coordinate with construction teams, vendors, technicians, deployment and integration teams, OEMs, carriers, project managers, and other stakeholders throughout project delivery.
  • Review and interpret architectural floor plans and construction drawings to develop accurate and practical RF designs.
  • Ensure designs comply with carrier RF specifications, regulatory requirements, industry standards, and applicable safety practices.
  • Produce clear, accurate, and carrier-ready design documentation and communicate technical information effectively to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Use iBwave and related design and documentation tools to develop and support DAS projects.
  • Collaborate with project and deployment teams to help ensure wireless systems are implemented according to approved designs and technical requirements.
  • Support multi-carrier and large-scale in-building wireless projects where required, including complex commercial and high-profile venues.
  • Apply knowledge of public safety systems, private wireless networks, and other specialized in-building technologies when applicable.

  Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related technical field.
  • iBwave Level 3 Designer certification.
  • Demonstrated experience designing in-building wireless systems, including passive and active DAS and small cell solutions.
  • Prior experience working with T-Mobile on in-building wireless or DAS projects.
  • Hands-on experience using iBwave for DAS design work.
  • Understanding of RF design principles, coverage and capacity requirements, carrier specifications, and design compliance standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural floor plans, construction drawings, and related technical documentation.
  • Experience coordinating technical work with construction teams, vendors, technicians, OEMs, carriers, deployment and integration teams, and project managers.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create clear technical and carrier-ready documentation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, and Visio, as well as general design and documentation tools such as Figma.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements, industry best practices, and safety considerations relevant to telecommunications and construction environments.
  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience with multi-carrier in-building systems for major operators is preferred.
  • Experience working on wireless deployments in airports, stadiums, hospitals, large commercial buildings, or other high-profile venues is a plus.
  • Familiarity with public safety systems such as ERRCS and FirstNet, as well as CBRS or private LTE networks, is preferred.
  • Knowledge of OSHA requirements and site-specific safety guidelines for construction and operational environments is advantageous.
