About the role
Accountabilities:
- Develop, maintain, and coordinate comprehensive release plans, including schedules, dependencies, milestones, deployment activities, and stakeholder communications.
- Own the end-to-end release management process, ensuring releases follow established policies, controls, and quality standards.
- Coordinate release activities across engineering, QA, DevOps, operations, change management, and other relevant teams.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for release-related communication, providing clear and timely updates on progress, readiness, risks, issues, and business impact.
- Identify, assess, and manage risks that could affect release scope, timelines, quality, or operational stability, escalating issues when appropriate.
- Work closely with QA teams to ensure appropriate testing, validation, acceptance criteria, and release-readiness checks are completed before deployment.
- Partner with Change Management to ensure software releases are aligned with change policies and procedures and that operational impacts are properly managed.
- Monitor release dependencies and resolve blockers quickly, particularly when working under tight deadlines or during high-priority deployments.
- Leverage CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices to support efficient, repeatable, and reliable software delivery.
- Analyze release performance and outcomes to identify bottlenecks, recurring issues, and opportunities for process improvement.
- Establish and implement release management best practices that improve deployment efficiency, predictability, quality, and transparency.
- Communicate complex technical concepts effectively by extracting key information and translating it into concise, actionable messages for different audiences.
- Proven experience working as a Release Manager, ideally within environments involving live games or other continuously delivered software products.
- Demonstrated experience managing complex software releases across multiple teams, disciplines, and technical dependencies.
- Strong understanding of software release management, CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and deployment processes.
- Solid project management skills, including the ability to plan, schedule, coordinate, prioritize, and track multiple release activities simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build alignment across technical and non-technical teams.
- Strong leadership skills and the confidence to coordinate cross-functional teams while managing expectations and competing priorities.
- Ability to quickly understand highly technical concepts, identify the essential information, and communicate it clearly to different audiences.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to make sound decisions and resolve issues efficiently under pressure.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, particularly when managing dependencies, risks, schedules, and release readiness.
- Adaptability and resilience in fast-changing environments, combined with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Ability to balance delivery speed with software quality, operational stability, and risk management.
- Comfortable working collaboratively across engineering, QA, DevOps, operations, and change management functions.
