About the role
Accountabilities:
- Analyze and interpret complex healthcare and quality data to identify trends, patterns, special-cause variation, and opportunities for performance improvement.
- Develop comprehensive reports, dashboards, graphics, and visualizations that communicate analytical findings effectively to business and management stakeholders.
- Produce clear management-level summaries that translate complex analytical results into actionable insights and recommendations.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance on SQL, SAS, DAX, data visualization, coding practices, and relevant data sources.
- Interpret technical specifications and healthcare quality reporting requirements, ensuring changes are implemented accurately and communicated to stakeholders in a timely manner.
- Partner with business teams to refine analytical requirements and deliver solutions related to HEDIS, population health, pharmacy quality, accreditation, health equity, business development, and RFP activities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional and IT teams to improve data collection, reporting systems, data architecture, and analytical capabilities.
- Lead or contribute to analytical initiatives while serving as a trusted liaison between technical teams and business partners.
- Apply critical thinking and statistical concepts to solve multidimensional business and healthcare questions.
- Maintain awareness of managed care data, healthcare coding, and relevant quality performance metrics.
- Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in data analysis and/or analytical programming.
- At least 3 years of experience working with HEDIS or comparable healthcare quality performance metrics.
- Approximately 3–5 years of programming experience using technologies such as SQL and SAS.
- Proficiency in at least two of SQL, SAS, and/or DAX is required.
- Experience with DAX and Power BI is preferred.
- Healthcare delivery, clinical, payer, or managed care experience is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with managed care organizations, healthcare data coding, and healthcare data structures.
- Understanding of statistical concepts and their application to analytical problems is strongly preferred.
- Ability to work with IT teams and familiarity with MDS and advanced data architecture are valuable.
- Strong problem-solving, critical-thinking, active-listening, and analytical skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical information to non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to lead analytical efforts, manage stakeholder relationships, and collaborate effectively across teams.
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office and strong data visualization and presentation capabilities.
- A master’s degree in Public Health, Business Administration, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field is preferred.
- No specific professional license or certification is required.
- Annual salary range: $72,200–$115,500, with compensation determined by factors including education, training, experience, role complexity, and other relevant considerations.
