About the role
Accountabilities
- Define and lead commercialization strategies for fibre assets, including pricing models, access frameworks, partnership structures, and revenue opportunities.
- Develop and maintain multi-year commercialization roadmaps aligned with capital planning, infrastructure investments, and broader organizational priorities.
- Identify and evaluate revenue-generation opportunities such as wholesale bandwidth services, co-location, access arrangements, and strategic partnerships.
- Provide commercial oversight for fibre-related components of major infrastructure initiatives, ensuring alignment between delivery objectives and commercialization plans.
- Lead or participate in negotiations with telecommunications providers, infrastructure partners, vendors, and service providers.
- Develop and manage commercial agreements, including access agreements, service contracts, partnership frameworks, and related documentation.
- Provide commercial and strategic input into procurement activities, including RFP development, evaluation criteria, vendor selection, and contract structuring.
- Develop and maintain financial models covering capital recovery, operating costs, revenue projections, pricing assumptions, and cost-recovery strategies.
- Establish governance structures for commercialization decisions, including reporting, accountability, oversight, risk management, and decision-making processes.
- Ensure fibre commercialization initiatives support broader connectivity, digital transformation, economic development, and sustainable service-delivery objectives.
- Prepare strategic recommendations, briefing materials, risk assessments, and commercial updates for senior leadership.
- Deliver key commercialization outputs, including implementation roadmaps, partnership models, financial plans, procurement documentation, governance frameworks, and stakeholder engagement plans.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Information Technology, Economics, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in telecommunications, infrastructure, large-scale project delivery, commercial strategy, or program management.
- Demonstrated experience leading commercial, procurement, partnership, or business-development activities for major infrastructure initiatives.
- Strong experience developing business cases, financial models, revenue projections, funding submissions, and cost-recovery strategies for capital projects.
- Proven ability to negotiate and manage vendor relationships, commercial agreements, service contracts, and strategic partnerships.
- Experience operating in complex, multi-stakeholder environments, preferably involving government, regulated industries, telecommunications, or public infrastructure.
- Strong understanding of fibre infrastructure, telecommunications markets, connectivity services, or related infrastructure commercialization models.
- Excellent strategic, financial, analytical, negotiation, and project leadership capabilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex commercial and technical matters clearly to senior stakeholders.
- Ability to establish governance frameworks, manage risks, coordinate multiple stakeholders, and drive initiatives from strategy through execution.
- Project management or commercial certification, such as PMP, is considered an asset.
- Comfortable working independently in a consulting environment and providing senior-level strategic advice.
