<h3>About the Job</h3>

As a&nbsp;Principal Software Engineer at Avandra Imaging, you’ll serve as a hands-on technical leader, collaborating across Engineering, Product, and other areas of the business to shape and deliver systems that are secure, scalable, and high-impact. You’ll be trusted to drive architectural direction, mentor other engineers, and set quality standards across the stack.&nbsp;

This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives in complex technical domains,&nbsp;influences through&nbsp;expertise&nbsp;rather than authority, and elevates the work of others through mentorship, collaboration, and a commitment to engineering excellence.&nbsp;

This role goes beyond individual contributions —&nbsp;you’ll&nbsp;model engineering excellence, influence technical strategy, and help foster a team culture built on curiosity, craftsmanship, and care.&nbsp;You’ll&nbsp;often lead without authority, earning influence through deep technical insight, sound judgment, and a reputation for raising the bar.&nbsp;

<li>Architect and lead&nbsp;the development of critical systems, services, and infrastructure — with a focus on reliability, security, performance, and maintainability.&nbsp;</li>

<li>Partner with product and program leaders&nbsp;to ensure engineering solutions align with user needs, regulatory requirements, and business outcomes.&nbsp;</li>

<li>Set and evolve technical standards&nbsp;across the organization. Proactively address tech debt, guide code review quality, and drive initiatives that improve team velocity and code quality.&nbsp;</li>

<li>Coach and mentor engineers&nbsp;across teams — helping them grow their craft, navigate ambiguity, and&nbsp;develop in&nbsp;their careers.&nbsp;</li>

<li>Investigate and evaluate&nbsp;new technologies&nbsp;to drive innovation, simplify complexity, and support scale.&nbsp;</li>

<li>Contribute directly to codebases,&nbsp;especially for&nbsp;architectural foundations, prototypes, and complex or high-risk areas.&nbsp;</li>

<li>Serve as a multiplier,&nbsp;identifying&nbsp;gaps,&nbsp;facilitating&nbsp;collaboration, and unblocking teams without taking over.&nbsp;</li>

<li>Uphold and strengthen our engineering culture, with a commitment to curiosity, learning, integrity, and positive team dynamics.&nbsp;</li>

<li>Help recruit and onboard exceptional talent, contributing to a team that reflects our values and mission.&nbsp;</li>

<li>12+ years of experience&nbsp;as an engineer across multiple tech stacks, with deep experience building and scaling distributed systems.&nbsp;</li>

<li>Proven ability to&nbsp;operate&nbsp;as a&nbsp;technical leader&nbsp;— setting direction, influencing others, and delivering results without formal authority.&nbsp;</li>

<li>Strong foundation&nbsp;in&nbsp;software engineering best practices, including CI/CD, observability, automated testing, and&nbsp;infrastructure as&nbsp;code.&nbsp;</li>

<li>Experience with&nbsp;cloud-native systems&nbsp;(preferably AWS), including containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)&nbsp;</li>

<li>Solid knowledge of&nbsp;relational and non-relational databases,&nbsp;&nbsp;</li>

<li>Demonstrated success in a&nbsp;highly regulated environment, preferably healthcare, with an understanding of compliance and data protection (e.g., HIPAA).&nbsp;</li>

<li>Effective communicator and cross-functional collaborator, comfortable representing engineering in executive conversations and product strategy.&nbsp;</li>

<li>Passion for teaching, mentoring, and&nbsp;cultivating a high-trust, high-autonomy team&nbsp;environment.&nbsp;</li>
