Accountabilities
- Discovery Strategy: Define and continuously evolve the approach for identifying unmet needs, market whitespace, and new opportunities across debt, lending, payments, and consumer finance.
- Customer & Market Discovery: Engage directly with customers, prospects, internal stakeholders, and market data to uncover meaningful problems and emerging opportunities.
- Hypothesis Development & Experimentation: Turn early-stage ideas into testable hypotheses and design lean experiments, prototypes, concierge MVPs, pilots, and other validation methods to quickly determine whether an opportunity is worth pursuing.
- Opportunity Evaluation: Build compelling business cases for validated opportunities, including revenue hypotheses, supporting evidence, risks, and expected outcomes, and facilitate go/no-go decisions with Product and Sales leadership.
- 0-to-1 Product Ownership: Take full ownership of approved opportunities from concept through launch and growth, independently making decisions around scope, sequencing, priorities, and trade-offs.
- Measurement & Analytics: Establish measurement frameworks from the outset, instrument new products appropriately, and define the metrics required to evaluate product and business performance.
- Post-Launch Optimization: Monitor performance against original revenue and product hypotheses, identify opportunities for improvement, and convert both successful and unsuccessful experiments into reusable organizational insights.
- Opportunity Portfolio Management: Maintain a clear, visible pipeline of active hypotheses and their stages, using it as a management tool for Product and Revenue leadership.
- Strategic Product Leadership: Serve as a senior voice on industry trends, regulatory developments, customer needs, and adjacent markets that could create new product or revenue opportunities.
- Organizational Influence: Connect customer reality with product strategy and help leadership make better-informed decisions about where to invest and which ideas to stop.
- Product Leadership: 8+ years of product management experience with a proven record of owning meaningful outcomes at a senior or director level.
- Fintech Expertise: At least 3 years of experience in fintech, with backgrounds in debt, payments, credit, or lending particularly relevant.
- B2B Product Experience: Demonstrated experience building and scaling B2B products for enterprise customers.
- 0-to-1 Experience: Repeated success taking products or capabilities from concept to launch, ideally including experience establishing and owning a product discovery process.
- Experimentation Rigor: Strong ability to test unproven concepts, assess evidence objectively, and confidently determine when an idea should be supported, iterated, or abandoned.
- Strategic & Analytical Thinking: Comfortable combining customer insight, quantitative data, experimentation, and commercial considerations to make high-quality product decisions.
- Executive Communication: Able to present recommendations, business cases, and strategic decisions clearly and persuasively to executive leadership.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Comfortable working directly with customers, engineers, sales teams, and product stakeholders while maintaining ownership of outcomes.
- Autonomy: Experience operating as a senior individual contributor or leader within a small, fast-growing organization, with the ability to establish direction in environments with limited structure.
- Financial & Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with regulated financial environments and frameworks such as FCRA, UDAAP, or TILA is a plus.
- Technical & Analytical Skills: Fluency with SQL, experimentation methodologies, A/B testing, and cohort analysis is desirable.
