About the role
Accountabilities
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, accrual, and annual financial planning activities for the Legal organization, ensuring disciplined and accurate financial management.
- Develop financial reports, dashboards, and analytics that provide meaningful visibility into legal spend, trends, and operational performance.
- Partner with Legal leadership and enterprise stakeholders to deliver financial analysis, recommendations, and insights that support strategic decision-making.
- Monitor financial performance, identify emerging trends, and support resource planning and allocation decisions.
- Establish and maintain financial governance processes that improve the accuracy, consistency, transparency, and reliability of Legal financial data.
- Leverage Enterprise Legal Management (ELM) and e-billing technologies to strengthen reporting, analytics, spend management, and operational decision-making.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives that simplify, standardize, and enhance financial and operational processes.
- Contribute to strategic Legal Operations initiatives, special projects, and other priorities requiring strong financial and analytical expertise.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Legal Operations, or a related discipline.
- 8+ years of experience in Legal Operations, financial planning and analysis, business operations, financial operations, accounting, or a related field.
- Strong experience with Legal Operations, legal spend management, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and financial analytics is highly desirable.
- Candidates with significant financial or business operations experience within complex enterprise environments will also be considered.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to interpret complex financial information and turn it into actionable insights.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at multiple levels of an organization.
- Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders, provide sound recommendations, and build trusted relationships across functions.
- Experience collaborating with Legal, Finance, Accounting, Risk Management, and other cross-functional teams.
- Hands-on experience with Enterprise Legal Management and e-billing platforms such as TeamConnect, Collaborati, CounselLink, Legal Tracker, or comparable technologies.
- MBA, CPA, CMA, or another relevant professional certification is a plus.
- Ability to work effectively in a remote environment with reliable cable broadband or fiber internet providing at least 10 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload speeds.
- Candidates should be comfortable operating as a strategic individual contributor with significant enterprise-wide responsibility.
- Annual salary range of $130,100–$216,900 USD, depending on experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
- Eligibility for an annual bonus and long-term incentive plan.
