About the role
Accountabilities
- Partner with integrated project teams, program managers, and executive stakeholders to gather reporting requirements and translate business needs into actionable Power BI dashboards, reports, scorecards, and performance metrics.
- Compile, integrate, clean, transform, and analyze large datasets from multiple systems and platforms to support project, program, and portfolio reporting.
- Design, develop, enhance, and maintain Power BI dashboards and data models covering cost, schedule, technical performance, quality, risks, issues, and overall program health.
- Develop data transformation logic using Power Query, SQL, Excel, and other approved technologies to prepare data for reporting and analysis.
- Build and optimize Power BI data models, measures, calculated columns, KPIs, and formulas using DAX.
- Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot scheduled data refreshes within Power BI Service and other approved reporting environments.
- Prepare executive dashboards, briefing materials, performance measures, and other reporting products that support strategic decisions and management actions.
- Analyze program and project performance data to identify trends, anomalies, recurring issues, and areas requiring leadership attention.
- Improve data quality by identifying inconsistencies, gaps, duplicate records, validation issues, and discrepancies across source systems and reporting products.
- Recommend visualization approaches that improve reporting transparency, usability, accessibility, and decision support.
- Identify opportunities to automate recurring reports, manual data manipulation, and business processes using Power BI, Power Query, Power Automate, Excel, and related tools.
- Test, validate, and document dashboard logic, data sources, calculations, business rules, and data refresh processes.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues involving reports, dashboards, data models, user access, and data refreshes.
- Maintain reporting solutions in accordance with applicable data governance, records management, cybersecurity, privacy, and organizational requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree required; a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Mathematics, or a related discipline is preferred.
- 3–5+ years of relevant professional experience required, with 5–7+ years preferred.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, Qlik, or comparable business intelligence platforms, including dashboard, workbook, database, and visualization development.
- Demonstrated experience using data analytics to support business decisions and developing engaging dashboards and balanced scorecards that communicate organizational performance.
- Strong experience building, cleaning, transforming, and integrating databases and datasets from multiple sources, including cost and performance information.
- Experience developing queries for recurring data requests, reports, and analytical needs.
- Experience with statistical analysis, data visualization, formulas, and performance metrics.
- Hands-on experience with Power Query and preferably DAX for developing and optimizing Power BI dashboards and data models.
- Experience with SQL is preferred, along with familiarity with data transformation and analytical workflows.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, ServiceNow, and SharePoint.
- Strong ability to understand complex technical concepts and translate them into clear, accessible reporting and analytical solutions.
- Demonstrated initiative and self-direction, with the ability to independently identify opportunities for process and reporting improvements.
- Strong collaboration, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team while maintaining a positive, solutions-oriented approach.
- Power BI, Tableau, or Qlik certification is a plus.
- A current or fully adjudicated U.S. Customs and Border Protection background investigation is preferred, as is prior experience supporting CBP.
- Master’s degree is preferred.
- Ability to pass a government background investigation covering areas such as financial, criminal, residential, educational, employment, foreign affiliation, and prohibited-substance history.
- U.S. citizenship is required for the applicable government suitability determination.
- Target salary range of $76,390–$130,605 per year.
