About the role

Accountabilities:

    • Educate patients about healthcare payment options, financial assistance programs, account balances, and available payment arrangements.
    • Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility and support financial screening processes.
    • Communicate professionally with patients and insurance companies by phone and fax to resolve financial and coverage-related questions.
    • Coordinate with clinics and internal teams to support patient care and ensure financial processes align with clinical needs.
    • Verify that accounts are complete and ready for billing, including required supporting documentation and information.
    • Negotiate and establish appropriate patient payment arrangements while following applicable policies and procedures.
    • Collect patient payments by phone and accurately update patient accounts, balances, and payment information.
    • Review and process patient and insurance forms, ensuring information is complete and accurate.
    • Document financial activity and report payment information promptly and accurately.
    • Follow established procedures related to financial screening, payment arrangements, third-party requirements, reimbursement, and collections.
    • Apply knowledge of healthcare financial processes and regulations to help resolve account issues.
    • Maintain patient-centered, respectful, and transparent communication while protecting sensitive information.
    • Manage multiple priorities efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
    • Requirements:

      • Less than 1 year of related professional experience is required, making this an accessible opportunity for early-career candidates with relevant skills and aptitude.
      • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients, insurance providers, colleagues, and other stakeholders through both written and verbal channels.
      • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities.
      • General knowledge of HIPAA, medical insurance terminology, and healthcare financial processes.
      • Familiarity with ICD-9, ICD-10, HCPCS/CPT, medical terminology, and related healthcare coding practices.
      • Knowledge of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and applicable collection and reimbursement regulations is beneficial.
      • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, automated billing systems, and standard office equipment.
      • Strong basic math and accounting skills, with the ability to accurately handle financial information.
      • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and remain attentive to detail.
      • Resourceful and adaptable team player who can build trusting relationships with patients, referral sources, and colleagues.
      • Positive, enthusiastic, and service-oriented attitude with a strong commitment to patient needs.
      • Demonstrated integrity, honesty, transparency, and respect in professional interactions.
      • Ability to embrace collaboration, continuous improvement, and change while maintaining a focus on quality outcomes.
      • Availability to work Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. CST and/or PST.
      • Successful completion of the employer's talent assessment may be required as part of the selection process.

        • Salary: $17.75–$21.00 per hour, plus an annual bonus opportunity of up to 5% of base pay depending on applicable criteria.
