About the role
Accountabilities:
- Own a portfolio of DTC and eCommerce accounts as strategist, media buyer, and primary client contact, managing monthly budgets ranging from approximately $5K to well into six figures.
- Manage the complete client relationship, including performance updates, calls, strategic recommendations, results presentations, and proactive communication when issues arise.
- Conduct comprehensive account audits before making changes, reviewing campaign and ad group structures, keywords, search terms, negatives, bidding strategies, impression share, feeds, landing pages, audiences, and conversion tracking.
- Develop and communicate clear audit findings and recommendations to clients, including recorded walkthroughs where appropriate.
- Manage brand and non-brand activity as distinct areas of the business and report their performance separately to provide a clearer view of incremental growth.
- Strategize and optimize Search, Shopping, Performance Max, Demand Gen, and YouTube campaigns based on business objectives and incremental performance.
- Monitor Performance Max activity closely, identifying the contribution of branded versus non-branded demand and ensuring targets reflect genuine acquisition economics.
- Review and control Google automation, including auto-applied recommendations, assets, and sitelinks, to prevent inefficient spending.
- Own Merchant Center and product-feed performance, including product titles, disapprovals, promotions, feed hygiene, and factors affecting Shopping and Performance Max delivery.
- Own conversion tracking and measurement across GA4, Google Tag Manager, Shopify integrations, enhanced conversions, Google Ads tags, and offline conversion imports where applicable.
- Investigate discrepancies between reporting systems and identify the underlying causes of tracking or attribution issues.
- Diagnose performance bottlenecks across creative, offers, average order value, landing pages, checkout, and measurement, taking ownership of resolving the constraint rather than passing it to another team.
- Build supporting assets and tools such as landing pages, scripts, reporting solutions, and other resources that improve account performance or remove operational constraints.
- Use AI-enabled development tools as part of day-to-day execution, including building and deploying practical solutions rather than relying solely on prompting.
- Apply rigorous attribution thinking, using approaches such as holdouts and other measurement techniques to distinguish incremental demand from demand that would have occurred anyway.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience managing Google Ads with meaningful budgets for DTC and eCommerce businesses, with measurable results you can clearly explain in terms of CPA, ROAS, revenue, and business impact.
- Strong practical expertise across Search, Shopping, Performance Max, Demand Gen, YouTube, Merchant Center, GA4, and Google Tag Manager.
- Deep understanding of eCommerce acquisition and the ability to distinguish branded demand from genuine incremental growth.
- Experience managing campaign structures, bidding strategies, search terms, negative keywords, feeds, landing pages, audiences, conversion tracking, and performance measurement.
- Strong analytical mindset and healthy skepticism toward reported performance metrics, with the ability to investigate whether results genuinely represent incremental business growth.
- Experience diagnosing and resolving issues across the broader acquisition funnel, including landing pages, offers, AOV, checkout, tracking, and product feeds.
- Strong AI-native mindset and practical experience using tools such as Claude or equivalent AI development platforms as part of your workflow.
- Ability to build and ship practical digital assets, such as landing pages, using AI-assisted development tools.
- Native or near-native English communication skills, with the confidence to present strategy directly to clients, explain complex ideas, defend recommendations, and push back constructively when necessary.
- Excellent client relationship and presentation skills, with the ability to take full ownership of outcomes without relying on an intermediary account manager.
- Ability to work autonomously, prioritize effectively, and identify what matters without depending on a ticketing system or highly prescriptive task list.
- Availability to participate in client calls during U.S. Eastern business hours.
- Experience operating a Shopify store or managing Meta advertising at meaningful spend is a plus.
- Bing Ads experience is considered an advantage.
- Remote-first work: Work from anywhere in Canada, with location flexibility outside required client-call hours.
- High autonomy: Take ownership from day one and manage your work based on outcomes rather than time spent online.
- Meaningful responsibility: Own real accounts, substantial advertising budgets, client relationships, and strategic decisions end to end.
- Growth opportunity: Develop toward senior-level strategy and take on increasing responsibility based on performance.
- Hands-on learning: Work with real DTC and eCommerce brands while testing new approaches and building scalable growth frameworks.
- AI-enabled environment: Use modern AI tools as a core part of the workflow and build practical solutions that improve performance and efficiency.
- Direct client exposure: Present results and recommendations directly to clients, gaining valuable experience in strategic communication and business leadership.
- Performance-driven culture: Receive fast, direct feedback and work in an environment that values measurable impact, ownership, and continuous improvement.
- Long-term opportunity: Strong team retention and the potential to build a lasting career for high performers.
