About the role
Accountabilities:
- Develop new trade-channel strategy: Lead the strategy and engagement approach for emerging retail, eCommerce, and other trade channels, identifying opportunities to expand access and adoption of over-the-counter continuous glucose monitoring products.
- Own commercial growth plans: Develop and execute the growth strategy for the commercial wholesale channel, with accountability for revenue, volume, distribution, and market penetration objectives.
- Build strategic partnerships: Identify, assess, prioritize, and engage prospective partners across retail, eCommerce, wellness, concierge medicine, and related consumer health markets.
- Manage partnerships end to end: Own partnership development from initial ideation and opportunity assessment through negotiation, contracting, launch, and ongoing relationship management.
- Lead commercial negotiations: Develop and negotiate complex pricing, distribution, and partnership agreements while balancing commercial performance, strategic value, and long-term relationship potential.
- Expand product distribution: Develop creative approaches to increase product access and throughput, including co-branded marketing initiatives, alternative distribution models, and new routes to market.
- Develop compelling business cases: Create persuasive partner propositions and sell-stories that clearly communicate the commercial and consumer value of the offering.
- Evaluate partner business models: Analyze prospective partners’ businesses and determine how continuous glucose monitoring products and associated data can enhance their broader service propositions.
- Measure partnership performance: Assess the impact of partnerships on revenue, volume, brand equity, awareness, distribution, and other commercial outcomes, using insights to optimize growth strategies.
- Collaborate cross-functionally: Partner closely with Marketing, Sales, business development, operations, and other internal stakeholders to ensure partnership initiatives translate into measurable results.
- Manage external relationships: Build trusted relationships with partners from prospecting through renewals, maintaining strong engagement and identifying opportunities for continued expansion.
- Support market development: Bring forward innovative ideas for distribution and access expansion as the consumer health and CGM markets continue to evolve.
- Education and experience: Bachelor’s degree with typically 8–12 years of relevant experience; at this level, a graduate degree may be expected with approximately 4 years of related experience.
- Strategic partnership experience: Demonstrated success building and executing strategic partnerships, preferably within medical technology, healthcare, technology, consumer goods, or related industries.
- Retail and eCommerce expertise: Experience managing commercial trade and strategic sales relationships with major national retailers and eCommerce platforms, such as Walmart, Amazon, or comparable organizations.
- Business development: Strong track record of identifying new business opportunities, developing compelling value propositions, and converting prospects into meaningful commercial relationships.
- Contracting and negotiation: Comfortable managing complex pricing structures, commercial agreements, contract negotiations, and partnership terms.
- End-to-end relationship management: Experience managing external partnerships throughout the full lifecycle, from prospecting and initial engagement through launch, optimization, and renewal.
- Commercial acumen: Ability to analyze business models, understand market dynamics, identify strategic opportunities, and connect partnership decisions to measurable commercial outcomes.
- Cross-functional leadership: Proven ability to work effectively with Marketing, Sales, Operations, and other internal teams to develop and execute partnership strategies.
- Analytical thinking: Ability to evaluate opportunities using commercial, customer, operational, and strategic considerations and make well-supported recommendations.
- Communication and influence: Excellent communication, presentation, relationship-building, and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence senior internal and external stakeholders.
- Innovation mindset: Curious and creative approach to developing new distribution models, partnership concepts, and market opportunities.
- Travel flexibility: Willingness to travel approximately 25–50% as required for partner meetings, business development, and commercial activities.
- Remote readiness: Comfortable operating from a home office and collaborating effectively across geographically distributed teams.
- Salary range of $128,600–$214,400, depending on qualifications, experience, and other applicable factors.
