About the role
Accountabilities:
- Review residential mortgage documentation for completeness, accuracy, and compliance, and establish and manage new mortgage business and related financial transactions.
- Process mortgage transactions and documentation throughout the lifecycle, from initial application through instructions to lawyers and notaries.
- Apply sound judgment and problem-solving skills to resolve documentation or processing issues, make informed decisions, and maintain accountability for outcomes.
- Build effective working relationships with internal departments by providing responsive service, supporting urgent requests, and helping teams manage fluctuating workloads.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, increase efficiency, and contribute to the implementation of operational improvements.
- Support escalated issues and complaints with a strong focus on customer experience and appropriate resolution.
- Follow established policies, standards, documentation requirements, and procedures related to mortgage discharges and other transactions.
- Manage competing priorities effectively in a high-volume environment while maintaining accuracy, service quality, and turnaround expectations.
- Previous experience in the banking or financial services sector, ideally with exposure to residential mortgages or related operations.
- Strong ability to understand and accurately interpret legal mortgage documentation and apply relevant policies and procedures.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with exceptional attention to detail and a consistent focus on accuracy.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and build productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities, including the confidence to address issues and influence appropriate outcomes.
- Ability to work effectively in a high-volume, fast-paced environment while remaining composed and maintaining quality standards.
- Flexibility to adjust working hours during peak periods and manage changing priorities as business needs evolve.
- Collaborative mindset, strong work ethic, and ability to contribute positively to a diverse and professional team environment.
- General knowledge of the residential mortgage industry and mortgage underwriting practices is an asset.
- Competitive base salary range of $45,900–$76,500 CAD annually, depending on qualifications, experience, location, market conditions, and other relevant factors.
