About the role
Accountabilities:
- Build and maintain high-quality scientific relationships with KOLs, investigators, academic medical centers, community physicians, pharmacists, nurses, and specialty treatment centers within the assigned territory.
- Provide fair-balanced, accurate, and compliant scientific exchange on autoimmune diseases, treatment landscapes, cell therapy, and emerging clinical data.
- Serve as a scientific resource for investigators and support discussions related to clinical research collaborations and investigator-initiated research in accordance with applicable policies.
- Develop and execute territory-specific Medical Affairs and KOL engagement strategies, including stakeholder mapping, prioritization, and proactive engagement planning.
- Collaborate with Clinical Development and Clinical Operations to support clinical trials, including identifying potential sites, engaging investigators, supporting trial awareness, and contributing to enrollment and feasibility efforts.
- Capture, synthesize, and communicate high-quality medical insights that can inform medical strategy, evidence planning, clinical development, and other business decisions.
- Partner effectively with Medical Affairs and cross-functional teams, including Regulatory Affairs, Commercial, Market Access, Patient Services, Clinical Development, and Clinical Operations, while maintaining appropriate non-promotional boundaries.
- Represent the organization at congresses, advisory boards, investigator meetings, medical education forums, and other scientific events.
- Respond appropriately to unsolicited medical information requests and remain current on therapeutic developments, treatment guidelines, clinical research, and cell therapy operations.
- Complete CRM documentation, administrative activities, required training, and pharmacovigilance responsibilities, including adverse event and product complaint reporting.
- Ensure all field activities are conducted in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, ethical standards, and organizational policies.
- Advanced scientific or clinical degree required, such as MD, PharmD, PhD, DNP, NP, PA, or equivalent.
- For the MSL level, a doctorate degree or a master’s degree combined with at least 3 years of Medical Affairs experience is required.
- For the Senior MSL level, a doctorate degree plus at least 2 years of Medical Affairs experience, or a master’s degree plus at least 6 years of Medical Affairs experience, is required.
- Prior experience in cell therapy, CAR-T, immunology, rheumatology, nephrology, neurology, hematology/oncology, rare diseases, or another closely related specialty is strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of clinical trial design, clinical development, Medical Affairs functions, and the broader healthcare ecosystem.
- Experience engaging academic medical centers, specialty treatment centers, infusion centers, investigators, or other complex healthcare stakeholders is preferred.
- Ability to interpret and communicate sophisticated scientific and clinical information effectively to diverse audiences.
- Excellent presentation, written, verbal, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate across functions while exercising sound scientific judgment and maintaining appropriate compliance boundaries.
- Experience supporting pre-commercial or launch-stage biotechnology organizations is highly valued.
- Knowledge of autoimmune disease treatment landscapes and emerging cell therapy approaches is preferred.
- Experience supporting investigator-sponsored research, clinical trial recruitment, or site engagement initiatives is beneficial.
- Familiarity with cell therapy operational concepts, including chain of identity, chain of custody, and treatment center workflows, is advantageous.
- Comfortable working independently in a dynamic, high-growth environment and managing priorities across a broad geographic territory.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively, with approximately 50–70% travel expected.
- MSL salary range: $170,000–$185,000 USD annually.
- Senior MSL salary range: $190,000–$210,000 USD annually.
- Actual compensation may vary based on education, experience, tenure, skills, abilities, internal equity, and relevant market data.
