About the role

Accountabilities

    • Lead the design and integration of factory-level mechanical and cooling architectures, applying hyperscale data-center principles to develop scalable and resilient infrastructure.
    • Design air-cooled and water-cooled chiller plants, dry coolers, heat-rejection systems, hydronic distribution networks, and associated mechanical infrastructure.
    • Define cooling performance requirements covering capacity, redundancy models such as N, N+1 and 2N, efficiency, availability, resilience, and scalability.
    • Serve as a subject matter expert for single-phase and two-phase liquid-cooling technologies and architect rack-, row-, and facility-level systems, including CDUs, manifolds, and heat exchangers.
    • Establish operational requirements for liquid-cooling infrastructure, including pressure ratings, temperature ranges, flow uniformity, material compatibility, and durability.
    • Coordinate mechanical and thermal integration between facility cooling plants and high-density IT liquid-cooling loops in collaboration with electrical, controls, and operations teams.
    • Review and approve mechanical designs, CAD models, technical documentation, component selections, and system-level specifications.
    • Select piping, valves, fittings, pumps, heat exchangers, and cooling equipment based on fluid characteristics, pressure, temperature, corrosion resistance, performance, and lifecycle cost.
    • Develop and release bills of materials and manufacturing documentation while ensuring compliance with applicable engineering codes, standards, and regulations.
    • Perform or oversee thermal, hydraulic, and mechanical analyses, including flow modeling, pressure-drop calculations, and stress evaluations.
    • Define and lead system- and component-level testing, including leak testing, hydrostatic pressure testing, and performance validation, using test and field data to drive continuous improvements.
    • Lead design-for-manufacturability and design-for-assembly initiatives and optimize the manufacturing and installation of large-scale copper, stainless-steel, and aluminum piping systems.
    • Manage technical relationships with cooling-equipment OEMs, contract manufacturers, fabrication partners, and other external stakeholders.
    • Support system deployment, commissioning, troubleshooting, and resolution of early-life issues while mentoring less experienced engineers and promoting engineering best practices.
    • Requirements

      • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline; a Master’s degree or higher in engineering is preferred.
      • At least 5 years of professional experience in mechanical system integration, with a proven record of delivering successful system designs and implementations in a relevant industry.
      • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, system integration strategies, coordination, and infrastructure design; experience with data-center infrastructure is preferred.
      • Demonstrated expertise in liquid-cooling technologies, including single-phase and two-phase systems, chillers, heat exchangers, CDUs, manifolds, pumps, piping, and hydronic distribution.
      • Knowledge of applicable engineering standards and regulations, including ASME, ISO, building codes, pressure-vessel requirements, and relevant data-center practices.
      • Experience with mechanical design review, CAD models, BOM development, technical documentation, thermal and hydraulic analysis, testing, and performance validation.
      • Familiarity with design-for-manufacturability and design-for-assembly principles, particularly for large-scale piping and cooling hardware.
      • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training may be considered.
      • Strong analytical, problem-solving, risk-assessment, and decision-making abilities, with exceptional attention to detail.
      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare technical reports, procedures, and presentations and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
      • Ability to work independently with limited oversight, take ownership of complex projects, establish milestones, identify risks, and drive initiatives through completion.
      • Strong collaboration and influencing skills, with the ability to work effectively across global teams and with suppliers, customers, and external partners.
      • Experience with stage-gate project lifecycle processes and the ability to mentor and share knowledge with less experienced engineers.
      • Benefits

        • Fully remote position based in India.
        • Opportunity to work on advanced mechanical integration and liquid-cooling infrastructure with global engineering teams.
        • Exposure to hyperscale data-center cooling principles and high-density liquid-cooling technologies.
        • Ownership of technically complex projects spanning architecture, design, testing, manufacturing, deployment, and commissioning.
        • Collaboration with multidisciplinary engineering, operations, controls, manufacturing, OEM, and fabrication teams.
        • Opportunities to mentor engineers and influence engineering standards and best practices.
        • Professional growth within a large, globally distributed engineering and manufacturing environment.
        • Reasonable workplace accommodations are available for qualified individuals with disabilities.
