Market Data Lead

Accountabilities

• • Market Data Strategy: Define and own the market data strategy and roadmap, identifying, evaluating, and prioritizing exchange and vendor data required for expanding financial products and markets.
  • Sourcing & Commercial Management: Lead sourcing and negotiations with exchanges, consolidators, and market data vendors, managing licensing agreements, renewals, vendor relationships, and overall data expenditure.
  • Data Integration: Partner closely with engineering to manage end-to-end feed onboarding, normalization, symbology, reference data, corporate actions, and distribution across trading and client-facing platforms.
  • Data Governance: Establish robust governance across the market data lifecycle, including entitlements, data quality, lineage, usage controls, and compliance with exchange policies and audit requirements.
  • Licensing & Compliance: Collaborate with product, legal, and compliance teams to assess licensing and redistribution requirements as products, regions, and asset classes expand.
  • Market Intelligence: Maintain a current view of market data providers, sources, pricing models, partnership opportunities, and industry developments to ensure a competitive and cost-efficient data ecosystem.
  • Team Leadership: Build, develop, and mentor a small market data team while establishing effective operating rhythms with product and engineering stakeholders.
  • Technical Leadership: Serve as the internal subject-matter expert on market data and market structure, translating exchange and vendor conventions into practical guidance for technology and product teams.

  Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Professional Experience: 6–10 years of experience in market data or trading technology within a global brokerage, exchange, fintech, or market data provider, with demonstrated experience building or scaling market data capabilities.
  • Market Data Expertise: Deep understanding of exchange feeds, vendor products, licensing and redistribution models, entitlements, exchange audits, and compliance processes.
  • TradFi Experience: Hands-on experience sourcing and integrating market data across one or more traditional asset classes, such as equities, derivatives, commodities, fixed income, FX, or indices, and across multiple regions.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of feed protocols, data normalization, symbology standards, corporate actions, reference data, and time-series distribution.
  • Commercial Skills: Strong negotiation and vendor-management capabilities, including experience managing market data budgets and commercial relationships.
  • Stakeholder Management: Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across product, engineering, legal, compliance, and finance.
  • Leadership: Experience building teams, mentoring talent, and establishing operational processes in a fast-paced environment.
  • Execution: Comfortable working in a high-velocity, build-from-zero environment with significant autonomy and ownership.
  • Preferred Technical Skills: SQL or Python proficiency and familiarity with common market data feed protocols and data architectures.
  • Preferred Experience: Experience establishing a market data function for a brokerage entering new asset classes or markets; broad knowledge of APAC, U.S., and European market data landscapes; and familiarity with market data and trading products.
