About the role

Accountabilities:

    • Provide daily direction and communication to Accounts Receivable team members and team leaders, including work assignments, payer updates, center additions, and new market initiatives.
    • Lead, motivate, and develop team members through ongoing coaching, training, feedback, performance reviews, and professional development.
    • Support interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and performance management activities in partnership with senior revenue cycle leadership.
    • Maintain high standards of customer service when working with Accounts Receivable specialists, payers, healthcare centers, patients, and internal stakeholders.
    • Establish and maintain audit processes to assess the efficiency, accuracy, and completeness of outstanding Accounts Receivable management.
    • Monitor, analyze, and report key performance indicators such as days outstanding, accounts receivable over 90 days, and collections performance.
    • Develop, implement, and maintain departmental Accounts Receivable policies and procedures in collaboration with senior leadership.
    • Track and analyze department productivity, identify operational gaps, and implement process improvements to achieve or exceed performance objectives.
    • Help resolve service issues professionally, ensuring appropriate follow-through and timely resolution.
    • Handle sensitive patient and financial information with discretion while maintaining applicable confidentiality and compliance standards.
    • Collaborate across departments to align priorities, improve workflows, and support broader revenue cycle initiatives.
    • Requirements:

      • High school diploma or GED required; a bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related field is preferred.
      • At least 5 years of experience in healthcare revenue cycle operations, with a minimum of 3 years of progressive leadership experience.
      • Strong knowledge of healthcare Accounts Receivable, billing, reimbursement, and revenue cycle processes.
      • Experience with practice management systems; familiarity with hospital EMR platforms such as Epic and/or eClinicalWorks is preferred.
      • Ability to calculate patient responsibility, including deductibles and coinsurance, and interpret Explanation of Benefits (EOBs).
      • Working knowledge of medical terminology, Current Procedural Terminology (CPT), and International Classification of Diseases (ICD) coding.
      • Strong analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
      • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
      • Professional customer service skills and strong phone communication etiquette.
      • Ability to communicate clearly with patients and stakeholders regarding medical, financial, and policy-related matters.
      • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, remain flexible, and maintain productivity in a fast-paced environment.
      • Strong understanding of confidentiality requirements and the ability to appropriately handle sensitive information.
      • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
      • A collaborative, accountable, innovative, and ethical approach to leadership, with a demonstrated bias toward action and continuous improvement.
      • Ability to work effectively in a remote environment while maintaining team engagement, performance, and communication.
