Lifecycle Marketing Contractor (Iterable)
About the role
What We're Looking For
If you can look at a funnel, spot the places people are falling out, and have a drip built and live in Iterable the next day, this could be you.
We're looking for an experienced lifecycle marketer to take on our email and SMS program in Iterable as an ongoing contract role. We're a two-sided marketplace, which means you'll be building for two very different audiences at once: women in their 20s and 30s considering egg freezing through our Split program, and intended parents navigating one of the most emotionally loaded decisions of their lives. The journeys are long, high-consideration, and full of moments where the right message at the right time changes the outcome. Lifecycle is a core driver of our business.
We'll share the business priorities, core lifecycle strategy, and our brand and messaging guidelines. You’ll translate those into effective email and SMS journeys: drafting the copy, building, testing, launching and optimizing, with our sign-off before anything ships. We'll also look to you for recommendations on what to test, refine, or retire based on how flows are performing.
Responsibilities
Priorities are set collaboratively each month. Ongoing work includes:
- Building new drips and expanding or optimizing existing ones across the full customer journey, from first touch through activation, conversion, and retention
- Drafting email and SMS copy for new and updated flows, working from our brand voice guidelines and refining based on our feedback
- Digging into our funnels to find where people drop off, then designing and launching re-engagement and win-back programs to address it
- Standing up lifecycle support for new program and campaign launches
- Auditing existing flows and updating messaging, logic, and timing as our programs and positioning evolve
- Building and maintaining journeys, campaigns, templates, segments, and lists in Iterable
- Partnering with our product and engineering team to confirm existing tracking is firing correctly, and to spec new events or data points when a flow needs something we don't yet capture
- Hand-coding and troubleshooting responsive HTML/CSS email templates that render correctly across clients
- Owning segmentation logic, list hygiene, suppression rules, and deliverability
- Reporting on performance against funnel-stage conversion, not just opens and clicks, with a clear point of view on what to scale and what to kill
- Running a real testing roadmap: subject lines, send timing, cadence, sender identity, and offer framing
- Documenting what you build, so the program stays maintainable and our team understands what's running
Who We're Looking For
- 4+ years running lifecycle, CRM, or email marketing programs, ideally for consumer or D2C brands
- Deep, current, hands-on Iterable experience: journeys, campaigns, segmentation, templates, data feeds, snippets/Handlebars, HTML, email QA, and testing. Experience with Klaviyo, Braze, or Customer.io is welcome but Iterable fluency is the requirement
- Comfortable writing HTML and CSS for email, including debugging why something looks fine everywhere except Outlook
- Strong copy instincts. You should be able to draft a solid first pass on most flows and edit toward clarity and warmth
- Highly analytical. You can define the metric that matters for a flow, confirm the data behind it is firing correctly, analyze the results, and come back with recommendations
- Comfortable working with sensitive, high-stakes subject matter with care and precision. Our audience is making medical and family-building decisions, and tone and accuracy are important
- A self-starter who takes a business goal, asks the two questions that actually matter, and comes back with a plan
- Bonus: experience in healthcare, fertility, or femtech; familiarity with marketplace or two-sided funnels; familiarity with long consideration funnels and journeys
Details
- Ongoing independent contractor role, with scope and priorities reviewed each month
