About the role
Accountabilities:
- Manage an assigned portfolio of legal publications across online and print formats, ensuring content is developed and delivered according to established schedules.
- Coordinate with authors and contributors to secure manuscripts and other materials on time and maintain publishing timelines.
- Review submitted manuscripts against established author guidelines, identify issues, and provide constructive feedback to authors.
- Recruit new authors and coordinate author replacements to maintain the quality and continuity of publications within the assigned portfolio.
- Build and maintain strong professional relationships across the Canadian legal community, including practitioners, academics, members of the judiciary, librarians, and other external contributors.
- Serve as a knowledgeable resource for authors and internal departments regarding publications within the assigned portfolio.
- Coordinate cross-functional activities to keep editorial and publication projects progressing efficiently.
- Apply legal knowledge and analytical judgment to support the quality, accuracy, relevance, and consistency of published content.
- Use AI-enabled tools and large language models as part of day-to-day content development and analysis workflows, applying effective prompting and review practices to improve quality and consistency.
- Manage multiple projects and publication deadlines simultaneously across print, digital, and newsletter channels.
- Canadian law degree (JD/LLB) or a law degree from another jurisdiction accompanied by a Certificate of Qualification from the National Committee on Accreditation (NCA).
- At least 1 year of legal practice, articling, or legal publishing experience.
- Strong legal research, analytical, editorial, and content-review skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously.
- Strong relationship-building and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across departments and with external legal professionals.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to provide clear and constructive feedback.
- Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience using LLMs and AI-enabled tools as part of regular professional workflows, particularly for content development, research, analysis, and quality improvement.
- Ability to write effective prompts, iterate outputs, and critically review AI-generated content for accuracy, relevance, and consistency.
- Working knowledge of Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment while maintaining strong communication, organization, and accountability.
- Canada-wide base salary range of CAD $59,100–$98,400 per year.
