About the Role

We're looking for a Lead Front End Engineer to join our CMS BDAMAX team, building and leading the front end of a customer-facing healthcare application that serves millions of beneficiaries.

What you'll be doing

  • Design, build, and iterate on a high-impact healthcare application using TypeScript and React
  • Serve as the technical anchor for the frontend team — guiding architecture decisions, reviewing PRs, and championing quality
  • Drive a test-first methodology to ensure reliability and maintainability across critical healthcare infrastructure
  • Embed WCAG and Section 508 accessibility standards into the core of the product
  • Integrate AI coding tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, and Gemini into your daily workflow to accelerate development
  • Partner with backend engineers on RESTful API integration and seamless frontend-to-backend delivery
  • Mentor engineers on the team and actively support their growth
  • Participate in sprint planning, refinement, PI Planning, and release readiness in close partnership with product and delivery

What you'll bring

  • 5+ years of frontend engineering experience with deep expertise in TypeScript and React
  • Demonstrated technical leadership experience including code reviews, architecture decisions, and mentoring
  • Strong commitment to web accessibility standards including WCAG and Section 508
  • Test-first mindset with a track record of building reliable, maintainable software
  • Comfortable with AI-native development workflows and modern AI coding assistants
  • Enough backend and REST API knowledge to collaborate effectively with backend engineers
  • Thrives in a remote, collaborative Agile environment and genuinely enjoys working closely with engineers, product, and government stakeholders
  • Communicates clearly and openly, whether in a PR review, a planning session, or a conversation with a client
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States. In alignment with federal contract requirements, certain roles may also require U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a federal background investigation and/or a security clearance.
