IT Operations Manager

Accountabilities

• • Oversee the maintenance, availability, and effective operation of IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and software applications.
  • Implement, maintain, and monitor security measures designed to protect organizational data, systems, and IT assets.
  • Lead, recruit, train, and manage IT team members while fostering a collaborative, productive, and service-oriented environment.
  • Develop and manage the IT budget, balancing business requirements with cost-effective technology solutions and investments.
  • Manage relationships with external technology vendors and service providers, ensuring quality, timely delivery, and appropriate service levels.
  • Monitor IT performance metrics and operational trends to identify risks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Ensure IT operations comply with applicable local and international regulations, standards, policies, and security requirements.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of IT strategies that align technology capabilities with broader business objectives.
  • Evaluate operational processes and introduce improvements that enhance reliability, efficiency, security, and user experience.
  • Provide leadership and guidance on complex IT operational issues, ensuring timely resolution and effective communication with relevant stakeholders.

  Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT operations, including at least 2 years in a management or team leadership position.
  • Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, systems administration, networking, and security protocols.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, develop, and manage IT professionals effectively.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to investigate complex technical and operational issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Understanding of IT budgeting, financial planning, cost management, and technology investment decisions.
  • Experience managing external vendors, service providers, and technology partners.
  • Knowledge of IT compliance requirements, security standards, and operational best practices.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize multiple operational and strategic initiatives.
  • Ability to translate business objectives into practical IT strategies and operational improvements.
  • Must be based locally in South Africa to be considered for the role.
