About the role
Position Summary
As an Infrastructure Engineer IC3, you will contribute to building and operating the infrastructure that supports the HackerOne platform and the thousands of companies that rely on us to manage their security posture.
You are a strong individual contributor and collaborative team member with solid domain expertise in cloud infrastructure and reliability. You work effectively within your squad, take ownership of projects, and help improve the reliability, security, and scalability of our systems. You partner closely with application engineers and other stakeholders to deliver pragmatic, secure solutions.
You understand how to design and operate highly available cloud systems and apply best practices for reliability, observability, and security. You work cross-functionally with guidance, communicate clearly with stakeholders, and approach problems with a service-oriented mindset.
What You Will Do
- First 30 days: Onboard with your squad and the broader engineering organization. Learn HackerOne’s infrastructure, tooling, and workflows (AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes, Ruby on Rails, GraphQL, etc.). Become familiar with our reliability, security, and incident management practices.
- By 60 days: Participate in the on-call rotation with support from teammates. Take ownership of a scoped infrastructure project and deliver incremental improvements. Build working relationships across engineering and adjacent functions.
- Beyond 90 days: Independently deliver infrastructure changes that improve reliability, performance, or security. Understand how infrastructure supports product and customer needs, and translate requirements into practical technical solutions. Contribute to operational excellence through runbooks, automation, and system improvements.
Ongoing Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain cloud infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code
