About the role
Accountabilities
- Own end-to-end back-end operations, including supply chain, inventory planning, manufacturing relationships, 3PL and fulfillment, returns, vendor management, and agency coordination.
- Build and maintain scalable operating systems, processes, and SOPs, ensuring every recurring workflow has clear ownership, documentation, measurement, and accountability.
- Establish and maintain an operational knowledge base in Notion, continuously improving processes as the business grows and new needs emerge.
- Develop accurate inventory systems of record, purchase-order calendars, and processes that improve inventory visibility, planning, and stock availability.
- Build reliable reporting and a single source of truth for weekly leadership metrics, including inventory, stockouts, cost per order, channel and subscription revenue, vendor performance, and other operational KPIs.
- Create automated subscription and channel revenue reporting and develop a concise weekly operations scorecard for leadership decision-making.
- Establish vendor and agency scorecards to monitor performance, identify issues, and drive continuous improvement.
- Identify missing organizational functions, define roles and scorecards, lead recruitment, conduct screening, onboard new hires, and develop functional owners.
- Build a team of 4–6 functional leaders who can independently own their respective areas and operate without daily intervention.
- Create repeatable hiring pipelines, work-sample assessments, onboarding systems, and accountability mechanisms.
- Translate decisions into clear written specifications with defined owners, deadlines, and completion criteria, then follow through until execution is complete.
- Diagnose operational issues by tracing performance changes back to their underlying causes and implementing sustainable solutions.
- Continuously identify and resolve operational problems before they escalate into Founder-level issues.
- Build the infrastructure and organizational capability required to ultimately transition into broader COO-level responsibilities.
- At least 3 years of operations experience within a physical-product, e-commerce, or direct-to-consumer business.
- Experience operating within a high-growth environment, ideally supporting or helping scale a brand generating approximately $20M–$50M in annual revenue.
- Direct experience across multiple operational functions, including supply chain, inventory, 3PL/fulfillment, customer support operations, creative, and growth teams.
- Demonstrated experience building a department, function, operating system, hiring process, reporting infrastructure, or other business capability from the ground up.
- Strong understanding of physical-product operations, including lead times, purchase orders, landed costs, inventory, fulfillment, manufacturing, and 3PL relationships.
- Proven experience hiring, onboarding, managing, developing, and, when necessary, exiting team members.
- Strong working knowledge of Shopify, Notion, spreadsheets, and modern AI tools such as Claude or comparable AI productivity platforms.
- Highly analytical and diagnostic approach, with the ability to investigate operational changes, identify root causes, and turn data into action.
- Hands-on operating style with a willingness to work directly in spreadsheets, systems, processes, and operational details when required.
- Strong process-design capabilities and the ability to transform recurring work into documented, measurable, and scalable systems.
- Comfortable entering environments where processes may be incomplete, inconsistent, or undocumented, and approaching ambiguity with curiosity and a solution-oriented mindset.
- Strong organizational, communication, and execution skills, with the ability to establish accountability across teams and external partners.
- Ability to operate independently in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment while balancing strategic priorities with hands-on execution.
- Builder mentality with a demonstrated preference for creating scalable systems and developing teams rather than simply maintaining existing operations.
- Fully remote position with the flexibility associated with a distributed operating environment.
- High level of ownership and autonomy over the company's operational infrastructure and organizational development.
- Opportunity to directly shape supply chain, reporting, systems, hiring, and operational processes within a high-growth DTC business.
- Significant leadership scope with the opportunity to build and develop a team of 4–6 functional owners.
- Potential equity conversation after 12 months, contingent on performance and progress toward defined COO-level criteria.
- Opportunity to progress toward a COO-level role once functional leaders are independently managing their domains and day-to-day operational involvement is no longer required.
- Direct visibility into business performance and the opportunity to make measurable improvements across operational efficiency, inventory, fulfillment, reporting, and organizational accountability.
