In this role, you can make an impact and grow with us as Head of Engineering (m/w/d)
As our Head of Engineering, you will shape how engineering leadership works at Recare as we scale. Your mission is to build the leadership structures, systems, and processes that allow our engineering teams to grow while staying aligned, empowered, and effective. You will focus on developing strong Engineering Managers, enabling Tech Leads to maintain technical ownership, and ensuring that our engineering organization can scale sustainably without creating decision bottlenecks.
- Lead the scaling of our engineering organization as it grows from six to 10+ teams, ensuring teams stay aligned, empowered, and effective.
- Build strong engineering leadership by hiring, coaching, and supporting Engineering Managers who own people development, team health, and delivery within their teams.
- Design systems that scale by establishing processes and structures that enable multiple teams to collaborate effectively without creating unnecessary bottlenecks.
- Stay close to the engineering reality through regular skip-level conversations with Tech Leads, maintaining technical insight while preserving their ownership.
- Ensure transparent communication across the organization by sharing progress, risks, and blockers with the Director of Technology and giving engineers the context they need to navigate company decisions.
- Create organizational clarity by building transparent frameworks for engineering compensation, expectations, and career growth.
- Monitor the health of the engineering organization, looking beyond delivery metrics and paying attention to signals such as team feedback, delivery predictability, and cross-team collaboration.
- Support sustainable engineering growth by making technical debt visible, prioritizing it appropriately, and ensuring it is addressed systematically.
