About the role
The Team
The ACLU Communications department creates, maintains, and expands message narratives to engage our supporters and other target audiences, to help protect and expand civil liberties and civil rights, and also illustrate the value and impact of the ACLU’s transformational work. Through our messaging, engagement with newsmakers, our written, video and audio storytelling, and visual identity, we encourage support for the ACLU and help to build a more perfect union.
What You’ll Do
The Multimedia intern is an integral member of the Creative Services team. They support the team by doing research, drafting scripts and paper edits, transcribing and reviewing interview footage, editing videos, assisting on shoots and interviews, and participating in brainstorms and meetings.
Your Day to Day
Podcast
- Pitch topics and provide background research for each episode
- Assist with remote and in-person episode tapings
- Edit podcast taping transcripts and prepare publish packaging for podcast episodes.
Video
- Research video topics, draft scripts, review and transcribe video footage.
- Edit short videos for social media, if able, and help copyedit video content.
- Assist with remote or in-person video recording sessions or photo shoots.
What You’ll Bring
- Demonstrated interest in video production, photography, journalism, and storytelling.
- Excellent writing and research skills.
- Experience with video editing and experience working in an editorial environment preferred.
- Able to juggle multiple tasks and prioritize.
