About the role
Accountabilities:
- Develop and execute global medical strategies and plans for one or more late-stage hematology assets, including launch strategy, evidence generation, advisory boards, external engagement, publications, congress activities, and medical education.
- Contribute to and co-lead cross-functional Global Medical Teams and represent Global Medical Affairs on Global Product Teams, providing expert medical and clinical input into development, lifecycle, labeling, launch, and evidence strategies.
- Lead integrated evidence-generation activities, including medical affairs clinical studies, investigator-initiated studies, and real-world data initiatives, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and identified evidence gaps.
- Review and assess investigator-initiated study proposals and ensure appropriate alignment with asset strategy, scientific priorities, and applicable governance processes.
- Lead or co-lead scientific advisory boards and build productive relationships with therapeutic experts, scientific organizations, patient groups, and other external stakeholders across hematology.
- Partner with regional and country medical teams to cascade global strategies, align local plans, incorporate market insights, and support appropriate external engagement activities.
- Serve as a medical, clinical, and practice subject matter expert for cross-functional teams, contributing to market access, brand and lifecycle planning, integrated evidence plans, launch plans, benefit-risk assessments, and other strategic initiatives.
- Collaborate with patient engagement and advocacy teams to incorporate patient insights into medical strategies and advance patient-centered initiatives in hematology.
- Support launch preparation and execution by providing experienced clinical and scientific perspectives and ensuring medical plans are aligned across relevant functions.
- Provide medical education and scientific communication to internal stakeholders and present relevant data at internal events and affiliate briefings.
- Ensure all activities comply with applicable legal, regulatory, ethical, and internal standards, while proactively identifying and escalating potential compliance risks.
- Contribute to potential lifecycle expansion opportunities by assessing emerging scientific evidence and future directions in hematology practice.
- Support compassionate-use activities in collaboration with regional leadership and relevant stakeholders.
- Manage priorities and budgets effectively while maintaining strong planning, execution, and cross-functional coordination.
- Advanced scientific degree such as MD, PhD, PharmD, PA, or NP, depending on professional background; relevant clinical practice experience is strongly preferred.
- Strong clinical and scientific expertise in hematology, with particular knowledge of chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) required and experience relevant to MCL, MZL, and/or WM highly valuable.
- At least 8 years of pharmaceutical industry experience in local and/or global medical roles, including significant global experience.
- Demonstrated experience developing and executing global medical strategies, plans, tactics, and customer engagement strategies.
- Previous successful launch experience with at least one hematology or oncology product is required.
- Strong understanding of the end-to-end drug development process and practical experience with clinical trial development and execution.
- Proven experience organizing and leading medical or development advisory boards and engaging effectively with external scientific experts.
- Experience developing scientific presentations, publications, medical education materials, and other evidence-based communications.
- Strong understanding of evidence requirements for healthcare access and payers, with solid business acumen and experience partnering with commercial and market access functions.
- Demonstrated ability to operate effectively within complex, matrixed, multicultural, and geographically distributed organizations.
- Excellent presentation, communication, collaboration, and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders and external experts.
- Strong strategic planning, prioritization, time-management, analytical, and execution capabilities.
- Experience managing budgets and balancing multiple strategic priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently while fostering strong collaboration across global and regional teams.
- Willingness and ability to travel internationally and domestically up to approximately 25%.
- Annual base salary range of $296,600–$376,600, with actual compensation determined by factors such as experience, qualifications, education, skills, and work location.
