About the role

Accountabilities:

    • Ensure loans carrying mortgage insurance are serviced in accordance with applicable investor guidelines and that required documentation and information are accurately maintained in servicing systems.
    • Process monthly mortgage insurance premium payments and disbursements, ensuring payments are accurate and made within required timelines.
    • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly reviews of loan data to identify and correct discrepancies or missing information.
    • Reconcile mortgage insurance payments processed across the servicing portfolio and investigate exceptions as needed.
    • Review newly boarded loans to validate mortgage insurance information, system setup, and related documentation.
    • Create and process exception reports to identify issues and ensure timely resolution and payment activity.
    • Review monthly mortgage insurance termination reports and ensure PMI is removed from qualifying loans according to established requirements.
    • Process borrower requests for mortgage insurance termination and validate eligibility based on applicable guidelines and loan documentation.
    • Review loan documents to confirm mortgage insurance coverage, termination dates, and other relevant dates and requirements.
    • Process mortgage insurance reinstatements and complete loan-level open tasks in accordance with established procedures.
    • Identify instances where mortgage insurance may have been removed prematurely and take appropriate corrective action.
    • Maintain mortgage insurance rescission and cancellation documentation while collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to mitigate operational and financial risk.
    • Validate mortgage insurance data during incoming and outgoing servicing transfers, including reviewing closing documents and validation reports.
    • Support weekly validation activities to ensure all mortgage insurance lines are correctly established and maintained in the system of record.
    • Assist leadership with training initiatives and contribute ideas that improve processes, controls, and operational efficiency.
    • Perform additional responsibilities as required to support the servicing function and team objectives.
    • Requirements:

      • High school diploma or equivalent required.
      • 2–3 years of experience in mortgage loan servicing or lending; experience in mortgage insurance, escrow, accounts payable, accounting, or a closely related function may also be considered.
      • Strong understanding of applicable payment and due-date requirements, including delinquent dates and dates affecting discounts or penalties.
      • Working knowledge of investor guidelines and mortgage servicing systems.
      • Strong attention to detail with the ability to accurately manage large volumes of loan and financial information.
      • Ability to quickly understand new concepts, exercise sound judgment, investigate discrepancies, and resolve issues effectively.
      • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize competing responsibilities and meet strict deadlines.
      • Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision while contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment.
      • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally through written communication, telephone interactions, and in-person or virtual collaboration.
      • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
      • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality when handling sensitive customer, loan, and financial information.
      • Comfortable working in a high-volume, time-sensitive operational environment, including occasional early, late, weekend, or overtime hours when business needs require.
