PurposeMed's office is located on the unceded and traditional territories of the peoples of the Treaty 7 region which includes the nations of the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Îethka Stoney Nakoda which consists of the Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Good Stoney Bands, and people of the Tsuut’ina First Nation. The city of Calgary is also homeland to the historic Northwest Métis and to the Otipemisiwak Métis government, Métis Nation Battle River Territory, Nose Hill Métis District 5 and Elbow Métis District 6.

At PurposeMed, we’re building technology that meaningfully improves access to care, and we need strong engineering leadership to help us do it well. We’re looking for an Engineering Manager to uphold engineering standards, drive operational excellence, and deliver real value to our patients, clinicians, and the business. Reporting into the CTO, you will play a crucial role in both project execution and team management. You will coach and mentor a team of developers to help scale, maintain, and guide the technical tradeoffs between systems across our software platform.
This role is ideal for someone who can elevate the team around them, keep projects unblocked and flowing smoothly, and thoughtfully navigate technical decisions of various scales and levels of complexity.
In this role, you’ll make an impact by:
Leading and Mentoring a High-Performing Engineering Team
- Guiding and mentoring members of the engineering team while providing coaching in 1:1s and running effective performance reviews
- Creating a positive, diverse, and inclusive environment for your team to bring their best selves to work
- Fostering strong relationships and effective communication with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
Driving Operational Excellence Across your Pod
- Working in close collaboration with Product, Design, and Data leadership on improving ways of working within our POD/Triad model
- Leading your pod's processes, and coordinating with other engineering managers and the CTO to ensure consistent standards across the engineering organization
Overseeing Technical Execution and Delivery
- Breaking down ambiguous problem spaces, developing technical strategy, and leading project planning and execution
- Ensuring your team delivers high-quality, scalable, and maintainable software while balancing speed and quality
- Monitoring system health and performance, and driving improvements to reliability, observability, and incident response
