At Masabi, we’re driving the fare payment revolution, powering the journeys of millions all over the world. We build fare collection platforms that allow riders to seamlessly buy and present tickets for public transport either on their mobile phones, from a ticket machine, or even by tapping their bank card to travel. Our Justride platform is used in over 250 locations globally, including some of the largest cities in the world. With our industry-first mobile ticketing SDK, we’ve partnered with large players in the transport space, including Uber, Moovit and Transit.

The Role

We’re looking for an Engineering Manager to join our team on a fixed-term basis, covering a maternity leave for 12 months. You’ll step into an established team, providing continuity in leadership, delivery, and team development during this period. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll balance delivery, people management, and cross-functional collaboration. You’ll work closely with Product, Engineering, and Delivery peers across regions to ensure your team continues to deliver high-quality outcomes while maintaining a strong, supportive team culture.

This role is available in a fully remote model for candidates based in Romania

Responsibilities

  • Own the day-to-day delivery of your team, ensuring predictable, high-quality outcomes aligned with product and business goals
  • Lead delivery rituals such as sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives; continuously improve how your team works
  • Partner closely with Product Managers to shape backlogs, clarify requirements, and align on priorities and timelines
  • Collaborate with Engineering Managers, Tech Leads, and Principal Engineers to ensure alignment on technical direction and delivery plans
  • Maintain operational excellence, including system reliability, incident management, and support processes
  • Support and develop your team through regular 1:1s, feedback, and growth conversations
  • Foster an inclusive, supportive team environment where people feel safe to contribute and grow
  • Help manage performance, engagement, and wellbeing across the team, ensuring continuity during the maternity cover period
  • Provide visibility on delivery progress, risks, and metrics to stakeholders
  • Contribute to hiring and onboarding if needed, supporting the team’s stability and continuity

About You

  • You bring experience leading engineering teams in a product-led, SaaS environment
  • You have a background in software engineering and are comfortable engaging in technical discussions with your team
  • You’ve owned delivery outcomes end-to-end, balancing quality, timelines, and stakeholder expectations
  • You’re a people-focused leader who enjoys coaching, mentoring, and supporting others to grow
  • You communicate clearly and confidently with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • You’re comfortable working across teams and time zones, building strong relationships with Product and Engineering peers
  • You thrive in environments where priorities evolve, and you can bring clarity and structure when needed
  • You approach leadership with empathy, curiosity, and a focus on continuous improvement
