Accountabilities
- Lead the editorial strategy, development, and publication of a digital magazine, ensuring content aligns with organizational priorities, audience needs, and industry trends.
- Write, edit, and publish high-quality articles and features while maintaining consistent editorial standards, voice, tone, grammar, and style.
- Source appropriate photography, graphics, and other visual assets to support digital content.
- Develop the magazine's content strategy and identify opportunities to introduce new features, formats, and approaches that increase engagement.
- Own and maintain the editorial calendar, coordinating contributors and ensuring content is delivered and published on schedule.
- Identify, commission, and assign content that strengthens organizational voice, authority, and thought leadership.
- Develop content highlighting the value of membership and key products, programs, and industry initiatives.
- Manage freelance writers, editors, and internal contributors throughout the content development and review process.
- Define and refine content marketing strategies for different website audiences, personas, and stages of the customer journey.
- Lead editorial strategy around priority topics, collaborating with subject-matter experts and industry leaders to develop authoritative thought leadership and customer-focused content.
- Edit and publish articles from internal and external contributors, ensuring alignment with organizational messaging, campaigns, and strategic priorities.
- Use readership, engagement, and other performance metrics to evaluate content effectiveness and adjust editorial strategy accordingly.
- Manage the scheduling and publication of online articles across relevant digital platforms.
- Serve as editor and publisher of the monthly employee newsletter, ensuring clear, engaging, and timely internal communications.
- Support the development and editing of executive communications when needed.
- Collaborate with marketing, communications, product, membership, education, events, advocacy, policy, and other teams to develop integrated content initiatives.
- Engage with members, regional colleagues, subject-matter experts, and industry professionals to gather insights and develop relevant, high-impact content.
- 5–7 years of professional experience in writing, editing, communications, marketing, publications, project management, digital strategy, content strategy, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience managing publication workflows and coordinating multiple stakeholders and contributors.
- Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or a related discipline.
- Excellent English grammar, writing, editing, and communication skills.
- Strong knowledge of Associated Press (AP) style and professional editorial standards.
- Experience with web publishing software and digital content management platforms.
- Ability to quickly learn and accurately apply specialized terminology, industry concepts, and organizational style guidelines.
- Demonstrated ability to use analytics and audience data to evaluate content performance and inform strategic decisions.
- Strong creative thinking combined with exceptional attention to detail and editorial accuracy.
- Curiosity, adaptability, and sound judgment, with the ability to ask the right questions and adjust direction when needed.
- Ability to integrate organizational messaging naturally across different content formats and communication channels.
- Strong understanding of audience needs, customer journeys, personas, and content relevance.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and stakeholders simultaneously.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a cross-functional and globally distributed environment.
- Professional fluency in English.
