About the role
Accountabilities:
- Dispatch drivers to incoming service calls by considering customer requirements, driver locations, available loads, and operational priorities.
- Optimize routes in collaboration with local sites and service teams to balance responsiveness, productivity, and cost efficiency.
- Determine daily driver staffing needs and allocate resources effectively based on expected service demand.
- Assign routes and service tickets to appropriate drivers throughout the day and prepare routing for the following day.
- Monitor driver movements and route progress to ensure services are completed and identify potential issues before they impact customers.
- Manage incoming calls and emails from customer service, sales, and operational teams, coordinating pickup and delivery requests across the assigned market.
- Communicate with customers and internal teams when drivers are on-site to resolve pickup, delivery, or service-related issues.
- Troubleshoot operational challenges and proactively address potential missed pickups, delays, or routing problems.
- Coordinate same-day service recovery for missed pickups by adjusting routes and tracking field activity.
- Maintain effective communication with drivers, route managers, mechanics, customer service representatives, sales teams, and other stakeholders.
- Support continuous improvements to routing and dispatch processes while maintaining high standards of service and operational efficiency.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- At least 6 months of relevant work experience, preferably in an operations, dispatch, logistics, customer service, or similarly fast-paced environment.
- Strong ability to communicate effectively with multiple teams and stakeholders.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to prioritize competing requests under time pressure.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make practical decisions in real time.
- Customer-focused mindset with the ability to remain professional and positive when handling service issues.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team while maintaining accountability for individual responsibilities.
- Comfortable working with computers, phones, routing systems, email, and other standard office technology.
- Previous call-center or customer service experience is preferred.
- Additional training or education in transportation, logistics, operations, or a related field is an advantage.
- Must be legally able to live and work in Canada.
- Ability and willingness to work varying shifts, including potential overtime and Saturday hours depending on operational requirements.
- Willingness to travel occasionally, potentially up to 15%, to work directly with assigned operational sites.
- Salary: Expected base pay range of $55,000–$62,000 CAD per year, depending on experience, education, qualifications, certifications, and work location.
