About the role
Accountabilities
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing organization of software engineers, engineering managers, and technical leads, owning hiring, professional growth, performance management, and engineering standards.
- Establish the technology direction and engineering standards for the domain, including development practices, architecture, technology selection, testing, quality, repository management, and technical debt strategy.
- Own shared platform services used by multiple engineering teams, treating these capabilities as products with internal engineering organizations as key customers.
- Ensure solutions are fit for purpose, reliable in production, aligned with business needs, and designed to minimize future rework and technical risk.
- Partner with product, architecture, security, compliance, and other stakeholders to deliver outcomes through cross-functional pods.
- Support value streams including order-to-cash and lead-to-contract, ensuring engineering capabilities contribute effectively to business-critical workflows.
- Serve as a senior technical advisor and sounding board, engaging with teams on architecture, system design, technical trade-offs, and engineering decisions.
- Champion software solutions, processes, and standards that continuously improve engineering quality, scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
- Provide clear direction and accountability while operating effectively within a matrixed organizational model.
- Communicate technical strategy, priorities, project status, risks, and trade-offs clearly to senior leadership and other stakeholders.
- 12+ years of software engineering experience, including several years in engineering leadership and preferably experience leading through engineering managers or other leaders.
- Proven experience building and managing custom applications and/or SaaS platforms in complex enterprise environments.
- Strong software engineering foundation with experience writing production software and the ability to understand and evaluate code, architecture, and system design. This is a leadership role rather than a hands-on coding position.
- Demonstrated experience defining and executing systems-level architectural and technology strategy for an engineering team, product area, or broader technical domain.
- Working knowledge of order management, billing, revenue, financial systems, or closely related commercial technology domains.
- Experience owning internally facing platforms and/or shared services consumed by multiple engineering teams.
- Ability to lead effectively within matrixed, pod-based, or other cross-functional delivery models while maintaining ownership of people, standards, and technical direction.
- Experience working in healthcare, financial services, or another highly regulated industry is strongly preferred.
- Strong judgment and decision-making skills, with the ability to make difficult technical or organizational decisions and clearly communicate associated trade-offs.
- Excellent organizational, planning, and communication skills, including the ability to provide clarity around complex initiatives and communicate effectively with executives.
- Strong leadership presence, technical credibility, accountability, and ability to build trust with engineers, technical leaders, product partners, and business stakeholders.
- Experience with revenue-enabling or lead-to-cash systems, authentication, identity, or other shared platform capabilities is a plus.
- Estimated total cash compensation: $235,000–$275,000 USD.
- Competitive total rewards package designed to recognize high performance and meaningful impact.
- Remote work opportunity within the United States.
- Opportunity to lead technology teams working on industry-defining healthcare data and technology solutions.
- Significant influence over engineering strategy, architecture, standards, and organizational development.
- Opportunities to work with highly collaborative, multidisciplinary teams.
- Environment focused on innovation, professional growth, and high-performance engineering.
- Opportunity to contribute to technology that supports secure, accessible, and actionable healthcare data.
- Equal opportunity workplace committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive team.
- Reasonable accommodations available throughout the employment and application process.
